For gunpla, nothing beats ikea detolf in term of cost. I got 2 unit, brought to johor just because I could not find any other suitable display cabinet with affordable price, It can fit in car (mine waja) but its heavy, around 40Kg. Its possible to lift and assembled it yourself (did that twice) but it will be a lot easier if done with friend. Putting them side by side also not bad at all.
Although I like custom made cabinet, the cost and less flexibility (cannot move it around) kept me back.
Btw TS, mind asking, what collectible you planning to put in the cabinet?

QUOTE(nubJeff @ Jul 21 2013, 10:25 PM) Erm..I just use to display my toys inside only..like minion..should be fine right? Lol, plan to use Myvi cause it's my friend to help me carry back since I'm outstation..and i just put the toys like McDonald Minion I see, yeah..it's cool cabinet, well I will try ask my friend to carry for me with his myvi lol. Assuming its mc d minions, I think its better to just use daiso display case and stack them. Or if you got a lot of minions, maybe can consider acrylic case for displaying hotwheels car. It can be hung on the wall, so really save space.

QUOTE(nubJeff @ Jul 21 2013, 10:39 PM) Err..I'm going to collect more toys, that why trying to get the cabinet lo..not only minion haha~ Oic. But imo, Detolf not really suitable for small stuff, since the shelf height is quite large. You need some shelf to better utilize the space..

QUOTE(nubJeff @ Jul 21 2013, 10:48 PM) Yeah, I'm thinking this problem also lol..well, I might go those shop request to make the design i want.. May I suggest you start collecting first before deciding on what cabinet is suitable. From my little experience in collecting various stuff, I kept on changing/swapping them around and bought new cabinet/wall shelf as the collection grew and no longer suitable/fit in it. some of my stuff. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by sphiroth: Jul 21 2013, 11:11 PM

QUOTE(hiroka88 @ Jul 21 2013, 11:01 PM) what kind of toys u collect??? if quite huge example 12' u can try "billy @ ikea" » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Nice. Billy is cheap. but the glass door and shelf is quite expensive. One good thing is that its sturdier than detolf, can support heavier stuff.

QUOTE(nubJeff @ Jul 21 2013, 11:15 PM) Ermm guys, I just collect the Mcdonald Happy meal toys but not all , like minion, smurf hello kitty..lol. If like that, I would advise you just custom made acrylic case which can be hung on wall. Just my preference. Each rows for one 'series'. Maybe can ask them to make the case in shape of mc d logo.

QUOTE(MrMao @ Jul 22 2013, 12:48 AM) bro, where u get the rack to put the CD case? Ikea Forgot its name already... QUOTE(nubJeff @ Jul 22 2013, 03:41 AM) Lol, can you show me his profile link?I can't search him Anyway, you guys prefer acrylic or glass better? Hehe.. Here you go... https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2208853&hl=He often set up stall at amcorp. maybe can go and see. Between acrylic and glass, I prefer acrylic because its light but for big structure/case, glass is cheaper. Most advert signage shop does offer service for making acrylic case, but they cannot do design which required small/precision cutting. You can also ask shop that sold trophy, some do make custom case also. This post has been edited by sphiroth: Jul 22 2013, 05:59 AM
