Does anyone actually upgrade to r3 upgrade stuff when they bought their neo? The fiery red one really attracted my eye. Is there any place i can test drive the car to how they perform? Does COE actually offer test drive at their test track o.O

How about lower spring and those ecu upgrade? I am considering either neo r3 or swift sports ignoring the price disparity between two.

So i went to this proton dealer near my house. Asked to have a look at R3 neo, the guy said the car is currently serviced elsewhere and only be back on monday. But then there is base manual neo on display so I went to look at it.

My summary from sitting in the car (I may be wrong)

1)The gear lever is so rubbury and sticky to move around, need some effort to change gear). Does the same feeling going to be on r3 neo?

2)The pedal placement is quite good, i most probably could easily heel and toe when on the road, it work fine when i in the base neo. Its being a while i driven a manual car sad.gif

3)THe clutch travel is super far, is that suppose to be normal? Even kancil or old school city does not need that long travel

3)The seat i am in is a little bit too low for my height, is that normal or just because i did not adjust the seat height properly?

4)The base neo looked like an perfect platform to do crazy stuff onto it. I not intending to do any more if i ever get the r3neo. THe most i do is getting the r3 parts eg exhuat/brake rotor/lower spring and nothing more than that.

5)Always wondered if the r3 came with any kind of stability control or traction control other than the usual abs/ebd thing.

6) I heard that the neo r3 is one theif magnet and it is one of most stolen vehicle. I dont understand the logic behind it, if u say the old GTI i understand as it have mitsu stuff here and there but what up with people wanna steel the current gen neo cps r3?

7) Is the clutch very light to operate or the other way round.

The Sales guy asked me to comeback on monday so i can get to test the neo cps r3. He does not have the R3 parts menu as i really want to have a look how much those will cost to me. But i got the full brochure for the r3 smile.gif I am considering buying those upgrade parts and install onto the car when i decide to buy the car.

As far as i know the SA said currently there no offer for r3 neo.

I was looking around to complement my current honda city as i go to my work place very early and the road are really empty so thinking about streching my leg whenever is safe to do so smile.gif

Looked at other comparable class like swift sport but to be honest the multilink suspension really caught my eye as other car in the price bracket were torson bean. I am also assuming the cost of running (service, spares) neo r3 would be cheaper than lets say swift sports?

Does the current neo batch have good construction built or i bound to expect the unexpected? icon_question.gif

Hope to hear your guys opinion about my question smile.gif

Nvm bro..

just take ur time firstly...

Get a good and more importantly, sporting SA here.. biggrin.gif
*
So i check again in COSE today and there no neo for test drive sad.gif I asked the SA and he said that the only diff between the base neo cps and r3 neo is the wheel/tire combo, bodykit, 2 din unit and perhaps some cosmestic diff in the interior? So is that the actual case?

WHat do you look when u trying to get a honest/genuine SA instead of someone only keen on closing the sales? icon_question.gif

Really... sweat.gif

R3 neo got R3 seat, r3 rim, cps bodykit+r3 splitter, 2 din unit and r3 spoiler..

base neo got normal seat (Neo Campro seat), 1 din, steel rim and neo campro bodykit..

Same between them = Campro CPS engine...

abt sa, its about luck...lolz...some of them duwan layan, luckily i got sporting sa..

anyways, can try this
*
Aha i see, I just not sure if i should go for base neo instead of r3 and throw the r3 parts onto it from the money saved icon_question.gif I dont have the time to go test drive the car as I need to go to workplace in the morning and only comeback around 9 or 10 pm sad.gif

Why proton no put cfe engine onto neo? It will be a hot seller to be honest smile.gif or is it the politics in proton prevent it from happening sad.gif

brother minizian, i believe the base line satria neo is already out of production? Just get CPS R3 bro... haha...
initially when I got my car.. my mom, my gf and my grandma had same issues with the door and the roof. So now they have all decided not to ride with me. Except for my gf has started to love my car and always want to drive instead of letting me drive. =D
agree with afiqms... it's a nice distraction !!
*
THe base neo is back, i just checked the dealer on friday and saturday and now with 1.6 cps engine on display smile.gif and sans the bodykit, interior and wheels/tire combo of r3 smile.gif

Even the pricelist have being updated too to include the base neo.

if u into modding, the the base neo will be perfect..
but if not into modding then the CPS R3 more suitable..
already got bodikit, semi bucket seat, rims.. if u fancy those exterior interior R3 items lah..  rolleyes.gif
*
I not into modding but i am keen to put only r3 performance parts (eksos/ecy combo) onto the engine and lower springs to make it more nicer to drive the engine is slightly underpower for the weight of the car. I am not sure to get the base and take the money saved from not getting the r3 edition to do some performance mod.

QUOTE(anarchy2cruo @ May 5 2014, 09:51 AM)
there are showrooms open until 9 or 10pm. iinm one at mutiara damansara does. they are also do open everyday 7 days/week. if cannot go on weekdays go on weekend then. i believe most of the showrooms also open everyday 7days/week. but not most showrooms got neo for test drive. that one u have call them ask.. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
The dealer i went to said today will have the neo for testing but i only be free at night cry.gif cry.gif Beside its being a while i drove manual car. cry.gif worry i distroy the clutch on the car.

if so.. then take the base, then put on performance part.
u can save money and use it to buy performance part.

for manual neo the power is ok.. easily can cruise at 140-150kmh. if u tekan more can go until 180kmh, just need a longer road..  tongue.gif
or u can pnp supercharger kit..  brows.gif
*
U mean proreka supercharger kit, woulnt it will kill of the car engine faster than just leaving it na?

Now they have sports promo when u have buy neo

If you buy standard neo u got r3 15 inch wheel and r3 exhaut system and some random stripe

If you buy excutive neo (the one with r3 kit) u get r3 ecu, r3 exhaut and tiger stripe lol

All for around 3k plus.

I know cos i am looking at it again when i visited one of the dealer (I don have neo but very keen on it but the ppl who going to finance it are not keen on proton after their experience with Waja which again handle well but start to fall apart here and there and need to repair)

Fuh nais gak...definitely take this promo if buy new neo.
Erm..better ask Proton SA..

Neo vs Preve, jauh beza bang.
What is ur requirement?
*
But then i did not ask if they have cash discount on this model cos i myself not to sure if i going pull trigger on it. By as well don waste their time.

Wayyy better treatment than the SA at mazda when i was there to have look at mazda two doh.gif

QUOTE(LalaluSan @ Jan 26 2015, 02:56 PM)
Hope u dont mind with my funny requirement
- finding for mid range price car to take me from A to B (preferable first hand) ,
- i dont really like perodua design (sorry for this, my taste + my bad)...
- MT driver, so last choice would be satria/preve/iriz (preferable satria/preve, but since satria cheaper in otr cost, would go for this)
- still young, 2 door/4 door doesnt concern me much yet for now

thats the reason im going for satria neo, and before getting 1, would like to survey around first..
still looking around for more info on promo/fc/common problem etc  sweat.gif
*
I think satria neo would be a good choice if you looking into driving performance. Since you said is single so why not give a two door car a try before its too late (when you start a family)

I am sure Satria neo may not be as fast as other Hot hatch but for the price and feature (only car with Multilink suspension at this price range), it really unbeatable. Even the closest rival would be swift sport which selling at 100k

Not to mention parts are proton are generally cheap compare to other brand as long you able to get hold good authorised proton machanics (there are many service center but there not much good one around) but I cant really answer if the whole thing could last for more than ten years considering proton "not that good built quality".

There are lots for stuff to mod if you choose to go this direction, for me i will stick to R3 stuff and just drive around get to know the car first before doing anything crazy. I more prefer to leave mostly everything stock.I am sure stock car can handle track day without much problem other than replacing tires and brake pad.

Last part is this car is still one of the analog car left since most car now have some kind of safety net which may not be able to fully disabled (like in suprima or preve according to proton engineer i asked), depending how you look at it it can be good (can push the car as hard without worry esc will interfere it thumbup.gif ) or it can be bad thing (you gotta be careful in rain or if you out of control you are in deep shit rclxub.gif )

hope it help... I myself did not have satria neo but I know it is a good car if one close their eye on the badge wink.gif

Nice explanation bro  thumbup.gif

Btw, Mazda 2 is a beautiful car.
Too bad, that mazda sa screwed it.
Have to find another mazda sa.

Mazda 2 spec is a steal...much better than vios n City !  biggrin.gif
*
Mazda two is nice especially in hatchback and with the sports body kit and black rim thumbup.gif Guess now the queue is quite long.... Ppl who bought it usually i suppose for the handling and the hipster look. Space wise jazz/city win all lol drool.gif I can squeeze shit load of stuff in my city when the back was flatten, too bad the front seat cant be taken out else it can take in mooore stuff laugh.gif laugh.gif

Too bad for SA, guess my business is not needed biggrin.gif Neo R3 in GTI silver will be awesome. flex.gif flex.gif Waiting time for it shd be not long especially for manual i suppose as what SA told me that day wink.gif
