Finally after a long time, I've decided that I would have a little gallery of my own here. I will not upload everyday though, so please bear with me! Images have been resized to 650 x 433 pixels based on 3:2 ratio, with the quality set to 50% of the original.

Why only 50%, you say (as asked by cfyung85)? For the following reasons:
1) Bandwidth.
2) Its a fine line between sharing with people wonderful images you took, and people with principles saving your picture and calling it as you own. I know that good photographers would NEVER take another photographer's images and call it their own mostly out of pride for their own work, but not everyone behaves like that unfortunately. Therefore I watermark my work (I apologize if it distracts you) and set it to 50-55% image quality.

I will see if I can post according to theme, but I think it will most likely to be random.

So here we go, let me kick off with some not-so-spectacular pictures (otherwise you'll expect too much from me, hehheh tongue.gif)

Please feel free to criticize me. The more the better I'd say, but in a constructive manner please! notworthy.gif

Also, you can find more of my photography in my DeviantArt gallery. Expect overlap, can't help it! And do drop me a message in dA if you are there!

y put the photo quality to 40%? huh.gif y not 100% rolleyes.gif

It takes up too much bandwidth, and I don't want to excessively watermark my shots smile.gif tongue.gif

I'll consider increasing it, but no way it'll be near 100%. Going out now so will deal with it later whistling.gif

I don't want to sound like a pain in the arse, but I think if you're so paranoid about people stealing your images, you might as well as keep them to yourself. They're small - it's hard to appreciate the finer details. And the watermark right smack in the middle? I suggest 640 pixels at the very least, 800 pixels would be good - and a side watermark.

I'm sorry if I sound rather harsh. I just found it hard to appreciate properly your images, but I would really like to!

I expected this to come up, heh tongue.gif So no worries, you didn't sound harsh. I'll keep that in mind from the next time, thanks.

But for now, I'm not about to redo everything I just did heh.

Update: Alright, I updated several pictures which appeared to be the most plagued by 'strategically placed' watermarks and at the same time saved them as bigger files.

richx: Are you referring to 'ticket touts'? Yeah they are more of journalistic shots than anything else, no time to compose etc!

This photograph was taken during August 2005, London, barely a few weeks after the F430 was launched. Quite possibly one of the earliest F430s in existance. Photograph taken discreetly via hip shot, hence part of the front was missing. Apologies.

Since everyone is hot on wheels right now (of the four 17" - 19" kind), I thought I might chuck in a picture of something circular as well. Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what it is? tongue.gif

Whoops sorry peeps. Been too busy plus my desktop is currently spoilt. Could have lost half a year's worth of pictures, but still waiting for new parts to come in.

In the meantime, here's a picture of the spanking new BMW M6 Convertible, just having its world unveiling at the British International Motorshow.

xetajones: thanks for the compliment, but I've no time to really bother participating cry.gif

albnok: I just use the default font or whatever PS gives me and tack it on. Perhaps there is an automated script or something, but I have no idea how to set it. Maybe I might pick a colour which is more harmonious next time. Anyway the transparency is such that its not too obvious; otherwise you'd find yourself too traumatized.

In fact to tell the truth, I actually find it too time consuming to alter the layer's transparency etc that everytime I feel like just not even bothering to navigate the menus to alter the values.

Actually, the transparency is what's bothering. The colored tint. If it was white with transparency it would not be SO bothering.

Change the font, change the color, add a Blending Mode. Or at least add a background shape to it.

Step back and look at "adding the watermark" as art as well. Just as you took the effort to compose the picture and set the exposure, take the effort to see that the watermark isn't glaring and blaring. It's meant to get in the way if you try to copy it... not get in the way when you're just glancing at it.

Go surf some camwhore blogs, they tack watermarks on such that they are obvious, but not in the way. You would not expect girls to use Photoshop Actions, but they do it manually, and they do it with taste.
*
I tack it on to intrude partially to the main subject on purpose because of my issues with copyright, as much as I'd like to share my pictures with everyone. If its too blended in, it can be easily photoshopped to remove it. That's all I have to say, but thank you for your feedback.

supatza: I'm a bit paranoid I guess.

??!!: Yup, that is indeed the London Eye. Thanks for the compliments smile.gif

albnok: Shrugs, I suppose I don't view it as 100% art.

Nevertheless, here's the next picture for your viewing pleasure.

Imagine a barren ground full of jagged, naked rocks. Imagine plants entirely composed of berries growing amongst the unwelcoming landscape. You get the picture.

Aaahh... summer fruits smile.gif Not that it's been really much of a summer over here, with temperatures averaging 15 celsius, below half of the usual average temperature for this time of the year.

Very tempting and so inviting! Are those rocks? They look so edible  drool.gif
Reminds me of a dessert whipped up by Jamie Oliver.

Back to the pix..Good colour contrast of the berries against the browns of the rocks. Perhaps you like some order in your composition. I would have preferred a more random tossing of the berries. The berries are too organised ..black alternated with red; overlaid with blue and top off with bright red .

Yes, those are edible sugar rocks wink.gif

Well, with a scientist/ engineer background, I can't help but look for some sort of order or symmetry. For this picture, I was working on something more conceptual really. Although I do feel that the picture on its own, or with the berries placed randomly (as you suggest), would have made for a decent product shot! Too bad that the berries are all gone now...
