According to the press that followed our pre-season, they talked to Moyes and apparently he said he wanted two CMs. One of the Thiago/Cesc type, and another more defensive. Fellaini is the more defensive type I guess.

We need bodies in there. We only have one reliable option currently, Carrick, and he can't be expected to play all of our games at 32 years of age. Cleverley started brilliantly, but since the 2nd half of last season, faded badly..and that form followed him into this season. Ando is not doing better and he's a sicknote. Giggs and Jones are not natural CMs. It's ok for them to cover a game here and there but we can and need to do better than that this time around.

As great as Evra have been for us, good quality delivery into the box was never one of them. Last season he put in some good crosses tho, and this season seems to improved a lot on that! Moyes told him to work on his crossing more? Whatever it is, it makes sense looking at who we have at LW. Kagawa/Welbeck/Young/Nani/Zaha/Giggs. They would all come inside and roam about. Having Baines playing behind them, would give us consistent delivery into the box that the wingers won't consistently provide, seeing all but one of them are right footed.

Baines is not young anymore, but then in a few seasons time would be our experience head once Rio/Vida/Evra are not there anymore and would help the likes of Evans, Smalling, Jones, Rafael, Fabio who are all in their early 20's.

As much as we hate Mourinho's claims regarding Rooney(and most stuff), he's not wrong. It's easy. Rooney should just come out and state whether he wants to stay or not. That will be the end of it. Keeping quiet just means that he's leaving that door open in case the bid is successful. He is a bit dumb, but his agent sure knows how to play these sort of stuff. Damn them both.

It was the same with Cesc. We made a few bids, but he keeps quiet all along until he made up his mind and come out saying flowery things about not wanting to leave Barca blah blah. It wasn't the low bid that cost us. but rather his desire to stay. New manager, more important role in the side, and thats enough to turn his head back again. If Tito had stayed as manager, IMO he was interested in joining us. We wouldn't have gone in blind without talking to Cesc first.

Earlier on I might just say sell him off for high fee, but seeing Chelsea are his only option, just let him run out his contract and join for free two years later if he wants. Put him upfront, and he would get 30-40 goals easily. No way we are gonna strengthen a rival club. Now they're stuck with Torres. Cavani and Falcao went to the Frech rich clubs, Lewa is set on Bayern, they could try for Suarez. Not many options in term of top strikers.
