Don't level 3*s anymore. waste time and resources. Firstly you should join http://guardiancross-forum.com/index.php if you haven't already cos that is where a lot of trading takes place. Also if you go to the Giveaway section of the guardian cross forum, you will find threads where ppl give 4* cards for free to newbies. Go ask politely and you will receive.

Your goal as a newbie should be to level 4*s to max lvl, ie lvl 55 and when you have a full deck of max lvl 4*s you should then look to trade those max lvl 4*s for 5*s. Another currency besides max lvl 4*s is III stones (current market rate 1 max lvl 4*=5III). You can get III stones from quests, coliseum and by trading 9-10SS for them. The four forums that you will be frequenting a lot are "Non 5 stars" (if you're looking to buy or sell 4 stars), "Stones" (if you're get III stones using SS or buy 5* with stones+feeders), Auctions (for bidding on 5*s) and giveaways (where u try ur luck and sometimes win 5*s).

There is no shortcut to improving your deck if you're not spending real money. You have to save and save feeders and III stones then make good 5* buys to improve your deck and if u're trade savvy resell for a higher price. 5* cards have different skills and types (see http://gccards.web.fc2.com/) which affect the price as well (Ace being more expensive). There are the low tier 5*s and high tier 5*s and they price appropriately. Low tier lvl 1 5*s can go for 8-10 III and high tier lvl 1 5*s can go for as high as 150III. Here is a table where the low tier 5*s are on top (http://i.imgur.com/KkEGjAp.png). Ignore the points as they are for auction purposes and are not indicative of how many stones. Do note that if the card is max lvl and/or fully stoned the price increases.

Well if you're playing in novice i'd say put ur best card in front so you can get the Domination bonus as many times as u can. I suggest:

AceR Gilga old
RB Marcho
AceR Ladon

Followed by the rest.

having played novice with 4* RB cards with my wife's account, it is all keeping the winning chain and the amount coli tickets you saved up/willing to spend. with 5x4* RBs i got to S but dropped off to A+ at the end without even trying hard. Of course that was a few weeks ago when her account was still under lvl 20.
