Hi. I need your help. I sent to Toyota and after intensive checking they could not find the problem.
After I change the battery, still the same problem

---------------------------

Problem 1: It only happened 4 times this year and a couple times last year

My innova suddenly cannot start while I was using it, not in the morning. The engine crank as usual but cannot start.
I noticed that the engine orange lamp is off. I waited for few minutes, I put the key on and the light is on and the engine started as usual.

Problem 2: Happened twice. Once this year and once 4 years ago.

The engine went off while driving. Then after a few attempts to start, it started as usual.

-------------------------

I think both problem related. I think is is related to the orange engine light.

Please help. Now I afraid to drive long distance.

Thanks

Engine went off while driving? Huhuhu... it was quite a famous problem with early batch vios, related to a stupid immobilizer. I changed mine twice because I kept getting dead engine while driving. Scary shit when all those people high beam and zooming pass at middle lane staring at you like you killed their whole family.

Sounds like a camshaft position sensor fault or crankshaft sensor.

Check for the ignition coil/and spark plug as well.

TQ all.

From all the posts, 2 possibilities:

1. camshaft position sensor fault or crankshaft sensor
2. ignition coil/and spark plug

Any other?

After intensive checking, they found out the immobiliser function of the alarm that causing the problem.

It costs RM1100 to replaced the whole alarm system. They have to order the part.

Now they bypass the alarm before the part arrive.

Now I can drive without worrying about engine suddenly dies. But now I'm worried about my car parked without alarm!
