Personally, I like how u emphasize the WEBRART DESIGN wif dat grunge font! thumbup.gif

but I think dat u applied too much shadow on the web.. To me, itz ok not to haf shadows on ya main menu (Home, Latest News, portfolios.....)...
s for the content part, it looks lyk they are too stiff.. I dun think by putting shadows on the text will attract ppl to read em since it only makes it hard to be read.. ditch the text shadows on the content in the FERNANDES GUITARS compartment.. and the images, they are better off wif non-bevel mode. juz use em in their original format.

again, datz my personal view..hope dat helps.. I'll give u a 3, for the font n color.

the first lesson you should learn from the design you've made.

it is a design and not a website template.

difference? non of the text in the design can be done like that utilizing a normal web browser. all the text will be image generated which is very bad for websites right now. search engines have grown smarter and loves to scan the entire content on your website.

website mocks when presented to clients should be as closely rendered to the actual thing in a web browser as possible. where you're gonna use images should be images and where it's text, it should be pixel text. unless the website is going to be done in Flash then if you wanna fill it up with images is up to you.

design wise its nothing out of the ordinary and it definetely isn't following any of the current trends today.

however, for the work put in as a person who learned Photoshop from trial-and-error. I'd have to say the design is not bad but you've a lot to learn in making website templates. smile.gif

cheers.

shadow is not recommended in web design,
it's not very possible to be rendered through a web browser,
well, not impossible, but it's kinda hard to make...

there're three way you can apply shadow to texts:

firstly, through css filter, but it can only be done with IE,
and the result is not very satisfying...

secondly, through flash, but this kind of layout is not suitable for flash, 'coz it isn't necessary...
when should we use flash then?
I should say, only when you want to do something that's impossible to be done using normal html & javascript coding...
like a series of animation etc...

lastly, export the graphic and embed them to the webpage,
but it takes up a large space, and also, not necessary...

and then, scrollbars...
before any web browser supports fully-customizable scrollbar,
you shouldn't make it appear like this...
what you have to do when you're preparing the layout is,
to copy a scrollbar from IE/Firefox, and paste it into your PSD...

of course you can use your own scrollbars too,
but there're only two ways :

first, javascipt... you're required to spend some time on coding though...
and then, flash... but again, not necessary...

for this layout, if you want to make it a real webpage,
you're only trying to crack your own head, driving yourself crazy...
a very nice try anyway,
try learning html & javascript if you're interested,
as for your improvement in web template designing...

keep on your good works laugh.gif

Ok, here's what i think.

It's rather impropriate to put the description of your portfolio with that kind of font. Plus, it would be advise not to use all capitalise words for any kind of descriptions. Oh and don't forget to justify your paragraphs. smile.gif

I somehow find the title "Webart Designs" really glaring. Probably because it's white in color but that could just be my opinion. wink.gif

Overall i would say it's a good start. Just keep trying ya. I'm sure u'll improve lots. biggrin.gif

The text for contents need to be user friendly - readable (easy to read). So as the text for navigating page. I feel a bit dizzy looking at it. Try not to have all capital letters for contents, really feel dizzy to read. Too much shadow in the page makes it gloomy. Not very nice.

I think you might want to change the banner because everyone is mistakenly seeing it as 'webart' when it's really web b art with an extra b. tongue.gif

Wait, the whole thing is P/S-ed?

I recommend you to use common fonts rather than downloaded fonts or they will appear odd in computers that do not support your font when submitted live as a webpage.

Your fonts wouldn't appear if you do not put them in as images instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong here smile.gif
