The manga is on going I think. It is based on a mini story by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.

Can't wait to see the ending if they follow closely to the novel or not.

i give 8/10.

a pretty good hollywood adaption to the japanese novel. I read the novel before launch, go in with high expectation.

although they westernish it ( all them movie clinches), the element of the novel was intact. The coffee, interaction, battle styles etc.

Rita as usual is the only jacket wielding a melee weapon, which is explained in the novel. Too bad Rita didnt teach Cage to use the axe like in the novel, i guess they dont want waste time on that.

abit complains is that Rita not wielding a big ass axe, and they didnt explain about how difficult is to learn the jacket, like controlling its movement when using melee etc.

lucky they keep the coffee inside. wish they keep some sentimental sentence like the novel " do they give complimentary green tea in japan" and use it as the last line.

I expect the ending to have the similiar plot twist in the end, but hollywood give us a cliche ending,

netherless, it was a good adaptation, it could hv gone worst in hollywood

ok, just saw the movie.

I have to admit. Better than I expected. I tend to be disappointed in Tom Cruise blockbuster movies. This one was slightly better than his average.

Very entertaining and it was surprisingly funny in a good way.

And Tom Cruise screaming like a girl. laugh.gif

Ending still cliched though, but I guess the alternative was always going to be too depressing for movie producers to consider.

agree. if follow original novel ending, alot audience come out will say "suck endings'.

mainstream audience go in expecting cliche ending, anything different will generate bad reviews.

Surely the military has many PR guys.

Why Cruise was chosen?
What's so special about him?

as previous poster say, he is the face of the media representing the military.

Commander want ppl to see the war in the frontline, so send cruise to be the MC. Something like showing he is brave to the public blah blah, dun need to fight whistling.gif
