Always wanted a retiever wub.gif . But can't have them as they aint good guard dogs. Just know something weird happened. Was it a sign from GOD?

I was on my way out of my house to town. As I came out my front door I heard a chopping sound coming from my swimming pool. I thought it was my sis swimming...But with the pool lights off??? Then to my greatest shock.....

It was an Adult Labrador.....  ohmy.gif . It looked like it had been swimming for a while... but why didn't any of my family members noticed it? It was beginning to sink icon_question.gif . I tried to call it over to me as I stood over the steps leading down to the deep end but it must have been too tired to wade to me. I went near it and was a bit worried about the temperament at first, but when I approached it, it seemed friendly so I touched it forehead first. As it was beggining to sink again, I grabbed it and aided it out of the water. After drying itself, I tried to approach it but it was afraid of me. Maybe somebody left my gate open so the poor doggie came in. I let if out the front gate and it walked away.......

Am still recovering from the incident...... sweat.gif Would have been really bad had it drowned. Lucky doggie.... Hope it stays nearby my place so that it goes home....

Wow , swimming pool ..Labbie ... did you forget to give it a nice squeeze before it goes off ? You're right though about how retrievers are no guard dogs . In about 1 or 2 months my Fala is gonna stay outdoor but she's still allowed to roam freely the house . Thinking to get a guard dog to guard her ....she certainly still act like a baby though , missing her badly now .

Just noticed that you're from Kluang , my uncle is from Kluang and I have few buddies from Kluang too smile.gif And it seems that everyone in Kluang get to know everyone from Kluang .

Well, I wanted to give it a hug or a pat before letting it go, but it distanced itself from me. Maybe it was still in shock  sad.gif . Anyway found out that the doggie came from nearby. Will be seeing it again. Bad thing is that the owner lets it go alone to answer the call of nature. What if a car rams into it? sad.gif

As for where I am? Yupz... Kluang at the moment..... smile.gif . You've got relatives or friends here? I might know them. Small world here......Sleepy town.... biggrin.gif
It would have been a huge tragedy should the doggie have drowned. I don't know how Im going to swim or use the pool. Anyway the doggie came from the nearby Convent. It would definetly go to Heaven.....
*
I totally against owner unleashing their dogs without supervising them ..like take a stroll by itself , go out to do their business and etc . Shit happens ..

Yeah , one of my aunts married a Kluang guy . And few friends from Kluang ...very friendly people .

2005 Top 10 Dog Breeds List

For the 16th consecutive year, the Labrador Retriever is the most popular purebred dog in America, according to AKC® registration figures released today. The Golden Retriever held onto the number two spot and the Yorkshire Terrier made significant gains -beating the German Shepherd Dog and Beagle - to become the third most popular dog in the country.

"This may be the Year of the Dog in China , but in this country it's the 'Year of the Yorkie'," said Gail Miller, AKC spokesperson. "The Lab may still reign supreme, but the petite and often-pampered Yorkshire Terrier has taken the coveted number three spot for the first time since becoming AKC -recognized in 1885. Considering the increasing popularity of small dogs in the past decade-perhaps due to their exposure as celebrity companions - I'm not surprised to learn that this precious and portable canine may slip into the number two slot in 2006."

1. Labrador retrievers 149,692
2. Golden retrievers 52,550
3. Yorkshire terriers 47,238
4. German shepherds 45,014
5. Beagles 42,592
6. Dachshunds 38,566
7. Boxers 37,268
8. Poodles 31,638
9. Shih Tzus 28,087
10. Miniature Schnauzer 24,144

Yups... small dogs number1!!! Hahaha.... but kinda scary when there is a demand, more breeders do more commercial breeding.... see now, shih tzu RM500 also can get.... and there are just too many shih tzus.... quite a number ends up in adoption homes or SPCA liao...
*
yeah i was kinda surprised ...i heard you can get a show quality shih shih at 1k . now alaskan malamute and siberian husky are the trend and in everyone's wishlist . i flipped through the star classified and someone is selling tibetan mastiff ...i wonder how they are going to survive in a hot and damp country . poor thing doggies .

Dogs that are suppose to live in cold countries will have thinner coats. Yah, the fur won't be so furry. In our climate, all dogs will shed all year round but will go into major shedding twice a year.
GSD hehehe... how much ah? Latest I saw was RM1400 with cert. Now  only see people selling german shepherd with cert and the price is RM1000 over.
*
Talk about shedding , it's a nightmare . Yeah but it's still best to get a GSD with cert . The poor thing Malamutes , thanks Eight Below . Tibetan Mastiff , anyone ?

Yah loh.. like our labs hahahah.... everyday gotta sweep lah.

Malamutes.... sigh... sometimes I wish there is a warning after all the dog movies like "Do not buy this breed if you are living in hot climate" or something hahahah....

Yah, I saw the ad on Tibetan Mastiff... wonder how to keep... summore it's a big breed dog. Then there is that Fila breed... another banned breed here.
*
Vacuum 2 times a day plus nagging from my parents plus complaints from my sister .

Fila looks like a bull-breed to me but with long and dangling down ears .. havent seen any in real before ..it reminds me of neopolitan mastiff . Tibetan Mastiff long fur ler ...somemore tick coat ..I was so tempted to call that fella and ask how he gets 'em in here and how to keep them ..where to walk them ...bring out people thought new species ler

Hahah... same lah. Now I got spaniel living indoors, everyday my parents nag.... And I gotta use those lint rollers on my bed everyday coz my dog likes to sleep with me blush.gif  I spoiled her hahahah....

Fila is a big fighting breed.... that's why banned here. Yah, like neopolitan mastiff.

Wah, you also tempted to call? Hahah... I also... but then didn't in the end heheheh tongue.gif

Would you want a Tibetan Mastiff or Neopolitan Mastiff ? I also scared to take it these breeds , dont know how to train . My aunt staying in Belfast has a male Standard Poodle , apparently the standard poodle tries to control them , they claimed lah . I am a n00b I will call them tomorrow morning (for the Tibetan Mastiff ) , heh . Obviously , want to check out the price lah .

HAhah... I would like a Neopolitant mastiff... but tibetan mastiff is like bear loh heheheh.... well, some dogs when never properly trained from young will tend to think of themselves as the alpha leader and will try to control the family. That is why we must show our dominance to them. We humans, become soft liao coz dogs so cute, we let them do almost anything ahahahah....

When you find out the price, remember to post here ah heheheeh

They look like 'dont mess with me' , one thing i scared of having this kind of dogs is because i dont know how to train them ..so dont bother , yeah going to post the price eh ...

Im looking for another GSD and am still looking. You mentioned RM1400 with cert. Is it the imported bloodline(Long Fur) or the localised GSD(Shorter fur) >? The only GSD(Import mixed local) here near my place was going for RM1900 which is very higher considered my previous 2 cost me only RM1500(RM750 each).

And now you mentioned Tibetan Mastiff and I've read that they make good guard dogs and are territorial. Could you be so kind as to feed me with some info about their availability here, price and how well they do in out climate?  notworthy.gif

Thanks....
*
Tibetan Mastiff ? stick to GSD .

he's only 24 kgs. skinny hind legs. he can walk just fine but when he sits down.. its hard for him to get up.. he uses his front 2 leg/hand/feet to push his body up. is that normal?
*
24kgs @ 3 months ? ohmy.gif

Hmmm , did he strain his muscle or something ?

simchi - he is about 55 now... any idea whats the average height of a 3 month old pup?  hope hes not too big...

angelica- how old is your pup?
*
55kg ? are you kidding me ? 55kg for a 3 months old is gigantic . I am not sure about male , but my female labrador was 12-13kg @ 3 months .. and she's now 27kgs only @ 9 months . Ahh... HEIGHT OR WEIGHT NOW ? Fala is about 21.5" ( x 2.54cm ) = 55CM smile.gif ... 3 months probably about 28cm , approximately .

no la where got 55kgs about 5.5kgs only la, but that was at like 2 1/2 months...

vet said he looked normal weight and height, but i was just wondering...

12-13kg, are you sure ah?

i was looking at height...

my pup is about 32-35cm in height @ 3months now...

i think I will go weigh him again probably heavier...
*
hmmm , she was born on the 6/12/2005 , according to her 'pet health record' , she was at 12kg on 9/3/2006 ....22.2kg @ 3/7/2006 . if it's impossible for a 3 months old to weigh 12kg , the only possibility is the breeder fake the date of birth ..

...your boy starts running wild now ?
