Tried it. Better than sygic in term of finding destination but gps lost quite frequent and difficult to get gps lock while driving (sygic is better)

You can't blame them...Big companies buy smaller ones all the time....MS, Apple, SONY, etc.

waze hard to find the location.

i usually use google maps to find, its search is excellent.
once found, remember the street name, then use waze to navigate.

if only the navigation button instantly brings up waze.
hopefully gets implemented soon.

Waze's map database/search engine is no where near as advanced as google maps. A lot of places/point of interest/jalan/landmarks you can't find in Waze.

Waze also has very little userbase compared to google maps, making road suggestions to avoid traffic congestion less effective. Google maps have far more users and thus, traffic feed is a lot more reliable.

For google maps, I'd like to see the option of adding favourites and some self customizations. And also, add the option to extract google coordinates in the mobile app itself.

No need to update to v7
Since yesterday auto activated for v6.14 on my huawei mate. Been using it for 3 hours today. Use Navigation app - the app name already tell you . What is so confusing??

i can name at least 10 in my area that waze's own map can't find. but if use google locations within waze's search then u can find them. the problem is, after u got the location, loading it to navigate takes so long i am already own the way there after i close waze and open google maps. not only loading navigation and calculating route in waze is slow, but EVERYTHING in it is. that's why i don't use waze for navi, only using Sygic and google maps now, these are super fast and quite accurate. the only thing that waze is good for is sharing traffic info and police traps.

I think he is referring to the previous way of using navigation for maps where we go to maps app first and navigation is done after asking for directions...

1 utama

I was trying to get there the other day. But top 3 results are weird, not indicating the mall.

Frustrated switch to google maps, search 1 Utama straight it pop out as first.
Tap navigate n cn go already

Yup, nice point there. Forgot to mention the speed of which it takes to draw the navigation route and recalculate when you go off course. Simply superb smile.gif

in waze there are 4 search engines - bing, foursquae, google, and waze
i type "one utama" in waze, it doesn't give me anything interesting in waze search, then click on "google search" it gives me specific shops in one utama like "TheClick Shop", which the point it gets me there.

in google maps:
i type "one utama" it gives me a direct hit "1 Utama Shopping Complex". So Click on that and u on your way.

So,
1. Agreed waze is a bit slow in initiating the navigation, but not of a big deal
2. Waze still gets the searching job done, but a few more extra clicks sometimes (but most of the time its direct hit)
3. Waze still have other values that is a big pull - traffic update, fastest path by avoiding traffic jams, fun!, tracking your spouse (i know exactly when she will pull up to the house!).

Hei, thanks!!!

I prefer waze for navigation too. But disappointed with its search.
Often I use google maps to search, remember the street name then search again in waze using the street name.

Silly me. Now only I realize in waze, after the search, can choose search engine at bottom and give me same results in google maps. Can direct navigate. Yeah!!

Tried to used google navigation for few days already.. Few attempts..

Feedback/review

1. Quite friendly UI. Easier to use
2. Location search accurate in street name.. POI not so much at current.. Same as before.
3. Auto zoom very friendly, fast and good.. Landscaper mode also view very clear.. Better than any navigation out there..
4. 25 minutes routing with 12% battery consumed.
5. Traffic view need to try few attempts anymore.. Not sure about that.. Satellite view ok.. Like.

So far I'm still satisfy with the navigation beta.. Street search the best.. Then POI I'm feel my papago is better..

Yes, previously you have to get a modded version to have it work in Malaysia.

But now it's already 7.0.1 but navigation is still beta smile.gif

i won't go on to say Google Nav is super good or what...

personally, i still prefer waze.

last week, i tried out Google Nav... on this road from UM to Sin Chew traffic lights (used to be roundabout)... close to Sin Chew and what used to be Phillips... cars from the right (coming from Section 17) can come into this road. but cars on this road can't turn right into Sec 17. however, Google Nav actually asked me to turn right... tongue.gif
