I have seen some cars of Mercedes Benz C200 CGI model - Japan Specs. The main issue is the GPS/Radio system which the FM is not above 90Mhz in tuning. Also the Japan Spec GPS doesnt work here. The seller quotes 4k+ to update that to local system

Any idea, howmuch this could cost actually if do outside ?

Also, suggest me a good reliable service center (other than C&C) for Merc service in Klang valley

i don't think it would cost 4k if u do it later outside. btw... does ur C200 have the 7" monitor like in the photo? does it even come with COMAND APS complete with Linguatronic, again, like in the photo? because as far as i know, those features are only available on C250, not C200. i don't know about japan specs, so i might be wrong.

So here is the comparison

C200 - Kompressor (2008) AMG Spec model - ODO 25k run - RM 165k

or

C200 - CGI (2010) Avant Garde Spec - ODO 25k - RM 175k

Which one would choose ?

Why don't TS go for local model? It's still second hand car anyway for a recond . The AMG kit is only cosmetic .

To my knowledge there is no kompressor after 2008. From 2009 onwards, all CGI engines.

2011 models, I saw only few... Very expensive close to 220k

Uk specs are better than local. Local cars coming in 2nd hand are run over 50k km and pricy

I wonder what UK spec offers more than local. AMG spec is mainly cosmetic (bumpers, rims and steering wheel) and lower suspension. Engine setup is the same between AMG and non AMG.
Do consider to pay slightly more for local facelift 2011 or 2012 version at least they are still under warranty. Facelift W204 come with more than 2000+ changes/improvements according to MB. rclxms.gif

Agree. Currently I am going through a friend for a 2010 Avantgarde model with 21k ODO for 175k....

I know this.. Was told by many salesmen. Those techies from Naza do this... but you need specialist skills with software and computer to do. one small glitch will kill the entire command system of Merc and the car become vege...

I would go for CGI engine. And if possible go for C250 equipped with Dynamic Handling Package. Once it is switched on, the suspension get stiffer, accelerator gets more sensitive, gear shifting a higher rpm, it is where the fun kicks in smile.gif

A brand new C200 is advertised at only RM229k compared to list price of RM262k prior to Hap Seng throwing the price in Nov 2012.
Comes with 4 years warranty.
If you buy a recon unit, unless you are lucky, you are looking at say RM5k to 10k per annum minimum for the next few years to change malfunctioned parts.
Works out to be less risky to buy a brand new one and guaranteed no changing of malfunction parts for 4 years except for servicing ( which is not cheap )
Or if you feel the difference is to big look for a used one which is one or two years old with 2 years warranty left. At least you have a piece of mind.

12 k interval for service and around 1.2k each. U called this exp. ? How about Jap? My ex Honda accord per service was around 550 per 5 k interval. Agreed on the part that local is better interms of peace of mind on the warranty and its a brand new car.

My Lotus Exige 10k service only RM 700 and that is a sports car. So relatively expensive to me.
But I guess different people has different definition of expensive.

30k for extra HP and torque. Dynamic Handling package. These two points already worth paying extra.
Additional you won't find it on C200 are: GPS, DVD (not playable while in motion), Internet (work well with Android phone, not iPhone).
