How so? How would they be able to detect smurf accounts? By also getting the minimum when taking into account the mm levels? I mean yeah that affects a lil but I wouldnt say it entirely "protects" actual new players from smurfs.

MM is shit (aka either taking too long to find games, or having low wins players in your team or opp) ever since they went out of beta. You cannot deny that.
