I'll bet nowadys many gamers here has touch/played more than 1 consoles or handhelds. Why not list down here what's your past experience, the current one and the future console you gonna get

I'll start with mine first

I started gaming around the age of 9 or less... during the Nintendo handheld & Atari era...
Gameboy was unheard of during that time. The first handheld I have is the Nintendo handheld called Manhole bought from Singapore... dunno how much as it's a gift from my uncle. You are basically controlling a guy under a 2 layer bridge with 4 manholes holes at each corner, and you'll have to cover the manhole for ppl to walk past... I can spend hours playing that simple yet addictive game.
user posted image
The bottom right is teh one thumbup.gif
Then we would swap the handheld with friends or classmates to play... we had games like DonkeyKong Jr, where mario played the bad guys who has the key to DonkeyKong's cage, Snoopy, Oil Panic & many many more... thumbup.gif

Then came the Atari, where you start to play the game on TV, then we spend even more time on games... glued to the Space Invader, trying to beat your friend for high scores and forgot about dinner, untill Mom's rotan come and invite us to the dinner table... tongue.gif I don't have the Atari, but my much elder cousin is kind enough to borrow me during the school break. smile.gif

Then the 8-bit Nintendo console era... spent countless hours at my fren's house playing Contra & Mario. I got my first Nintendo console as my X-mas gift after UPSR... rclxm9.gif first game was Fist of the North Star, and boy that was a really tough game especially the maze, and you'll have to remember all the correct doors for each levels. sweat.gif But I think I've finish the game hundred times... tongue.gif
Also there are Little Genius or Famicom... played countless games and spend proabally thousands of gaming hours wink.gif My very first RPG was FF3.

Then came the 16-bit era, the heated console war era... Sega's Megadrive Vs Super Nintendo. My bro bought a megadrive, and the bundled game was ESWAT, also a nice shoot-em-up game. Finish countless times... Most of my other frens all bought the SNES together with the Super UFO. I think that's the time where ppl starts to depreciate the games, bcos you'll have sooo many choice of games to choose from, and it's cheap!! You just need to pay a few ringgit and ask the game shop to copy the game into diskette, kinda like the current situation, RM10 for 3 games... :sweats:
And not to forgetting playing street fighter 2 until having a sorethumbs tongue.gif

Then came the 64-bit era... Sony started to join the console war from here, I have stop catching up with the console trend, but "defect" to PC, where I found it more interesting and more things to play around with. OS, programming, hardware, upgrade & etc...
My best fren he still playing catch-up with the consoles until now... that time he also bought the Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64 & Sony PS1. I'll just drop by his house for gaming.. Finish all of the Sonic, Zelda & FF series there tongue.gif

Then the Sony PS2 Vs Sega Dreamcast Vs Nintendo Gamecube Vs the new player M$ Xbox. Again my best fren got all 4 of it (he's a rich fella)... sweat.gif So I didn't missed out any of the great games thumbup.gif
Got myself a PS2 three years back... still kicking & alive until now smile.gif except already spoilt a few controllers lar. tongue.gif Now hardly play PC games anymore... "defect" back to console liaw... bcos now is kinda hard to play catch-up with the PC hardware spec, especially the GC... cost a bomb! and I can buy a shining brand new console with a high-end GC. sweat.gif Now thinking of getting an old Xbox to use as media center.

The the future next gen consoles: PS3 vs Wii vs Xbox360.
My target is locked on the Wii. Don't think I'll get PS3 or 360. Why? as a long time gamer... I'll prefer more on a good gameplay... rather than the same old formula again. For me... PS3 & 360 there's not much differences compared to the consoles b4 them... except more powerful processor & better nicer graphic. They are just repeating what was done previously in the console history, like NES => SNES => Gamecube... just added better processor & nicer graphics... gameplay more or less is still the same, except it's more complex. And the control is getting harder & more buttons to press... and sometimes you'll get frustrated bcos you pressed the wrong button and caused a game over... tongue.gif
For me, Wii is a new innovation in gameplay... back to the root of simplicity, where they emphasis more on the gaming experience... thumbup.gif where your grandpa grandma also can play... now that's really Family Entertainment. wink.gif
So I'll be getting a Wii and a NDSL rclxm9.gif

Btw... I'm not a Nintendo or M$ or Sony fanboy... I'm just choosing which console which suit my taste & preference. wink.gif

Got the machine modded by cutting away that piece of plastic that prevents JApanese carts from slotting into the machine. Had tons ofmy pocket money blown away into this, starting from Street Fighter II Championship Edition, right up to the last 2 carts , Chrono trgger and Final Fantasy VI.

Made a mistake of selling of this masterpiece to get myself a PS1. sad.gif

1995 - While working as a slave in MPH bookstore, saved enough money (skipped a few meals and bus rides) to get the PS1
user posted image

Enjoyed the hell out of it with Battle Arena Toshinden, Ridge Racer (best launch game ever!) and King's Field. Last game bought for PS1 is Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy IX.

1998-99.......came back from flying school, stationed to wrok in Kuching, flying the Fokker 50. Walking around Sarawak Plaza and saw Soul Calibur running on Dreamcast. Jaw dropped and bought ON THE SPOT!

user posted image

Last game bought was Sonic Adventure 2.

3/4/2000....the date to remember....i made my own scrapbook on the Playstation2, and tracked all its launch details on the web, and believe me or not, on all TV reportings and sightings (yes, im that sad tongue.gif). Exactly 7 days after Japanese launch, received my very own Playstation 2, bundled with Ridge Racer V, for price of RM4xxx.

user posted image

Between that time and now, im still buying PS2 games, and last game (original) bought was Final Fantasy XII(JPN) and Kingdom Hearts II (US). Still waiting for FFVII:Dirge of CErberus (US) and God of War II. Also got myself 2 SCPH-70006CB, for playing the games during my travels.

[b]November 2001 ..... the gay purple lunch box with handle arrives. Gamecube Japanese version was mine, along with Luigi's Mansion. Later sold for the release of Resident Evil RE1 remake.
Last game bought was MEtroid Prime 2 Echoes.

user posted image

Less than 6 months after than, traded in that purple lunch box for a sleeker looking Panasonic "Q":-

user posted image

Early 2002, January got myself an Xbox, along with 7 bundled games. Didnt really play other games other than Dead or Alive 3 inside that bundle.

user posted image

Last game bought was Kingdom Under Fire: Crusader and Forza Motorsport. Got myself another unit to turn into Media Center.

2004.......Was donated a Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64 from a good friend, along with a non-working SNES, which i suppose was intended to be repaired so that i can relive those SNES glory days...but still hadnt come to it.

user posted image

AND NOW.....fast forward 5 months back, December 2005, comes the new addition to the family, the Xbox 360 US version.

user posted image

First game bought was Perfect Dark Zero, last game bought was Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion, while on preorder is Rockstar Table Tennis and Top Spin Xbox 360.

It's kind of scary to think about. My parents thrust a Game & Watch into my hands when I was 4 and probably didn't realise what they were getting themselves into. "You'll grow out of it, coriandery," they told me.

Pssh.

I beg/grovel/plead for my gaming fix from parents right up till before i get the SNES on my own pocket money. After that it's working, and im thankful the money's good.

No PS2 Slim while working, but i do slip in a few hours of PSP gaming wwhen the plane is cruising, or when workload is low. Remember to turn the Wifi off though!

The first time i saw that game of Pong played with paddles on screen using the Atari console, it changed my life forever. PArents were so hot on the thought of connecting consoles to TVs at that time, saying something about it spoiling the TV, etc etc, which is a myth by the way. So i had to buy portables like those Game n Watches.

OMG~! so, wi-fi really *does* interfere with navigational instruments on board? how about bluetooth?

i certainly need wifi to play games with some fren on-board if i am on a really really long and boring flight (read: no beautiful stewardess) on a crammed economy seat.

//offtopic: which aircraft u flyin' rite now? (flight number / route) perhaps i may bump into one of your flights and get a free 1st / business class upgrade perhaps? brows.gif

My first console was the MicroGenius or the NES. 8-bit gaming era. Loved the Super Contra and Super Mario 3. biggrin.gif . This is when I was in standard 7-12. ( 1994-1996)

Then on 2003, I shifted to PS2, my first 128-bit console. Quite a jump there, from 8-bit to 128-bit. hehe. tongue.gif Then 2 years after that, I got myself an Xbox.

Will look forward for PS3 in the year 2007. ( I'm gonna wait 1 year first)

When I'm 4, I think my brother do have a micro genius, and it spoilt. I never play it i think cause i'm too small that time.
When i'm 5, my grandpa bought a something like SNES from china...then i started to play...super mario, a circus game, contra, pin ball and snow bross and more. then later. 6, dad bought nintendo gameboy for me and my brother, we share, Tetris and PowerRanger and Mario, Best game.
2 years later, brother got good result in UPSR and request for a PS1 from dad, so we started to play PS1, best game ever play is GT2. I play crash series, final fantasy most of the time. That time is like im std 3.
When std 3, I got 1st position in class, so dad buy me a Gameboy Color, The game I only play is Pokemon.
A year later, dad bought me GameBoy Advance, also for playing Pokemon and Megaman Battle Network.
Following Year, 2003, trade in gba and gbc for gameboy advance sp, i knew that nintendo should make someting like that one day. Got back light, then I can play my gba at night, and mom will think i've already asleep...haha...
same year, end of that year, bought PS2. The day I bought PS2 I play dynasty warrior 4 till midnite to beat the whole game. Then played nfs underground and midnite club 2. PS2 still rocking till today.
Year 2005, I bought PSP at sg wang plaza. Love it very much, i bring it whenever i go.

I want a SNES and N64!!!, anyone want to contribute to me?or sell?

lucky fellas (especially stringfella) tongue.gif biggrin.gif. I have...a PS2. Thats it. Nothing before, nothing after (yet). Always been more of a PC guy. I would love to have a Street Fighter II coin op machine though. A chum of mine used to have one on his front porch believe it or not! (his dad used to run a video arcade as one of his first ventures)
