The engineering set shown at the PC Fair has the old LCD screen. It has some problems and thats why the launch has been delayed. I was told that we are waiting for another batch with different LCD sourced from different supplier and some updates. Hopefully that will fix it.

The price RM2588 is RRP only which means it can even be lower. Maybe somebody can do a bulk order. I was told that the Jabra BT headset is limited to first 100 buyers only.

RM2480 is expensive for a non3G, nonEDGE phone, IMHO.

its not just a phone but a pda phone. so how much is the cheapest 3G, Edge, PDA Phone?

mini-summary

miniSD - problem with the card itself. cannot detect by the pda or my laptop

camera - the camera seems slow to me. once after i pressed the shutter, you cant move for like 2 to 3 seconds and it also takes awhile to save. All in , it takes at least 5 seconds from press of shutter to see the results.

sound - ringtones and message tones seems not loud enough for me.

battery - even for a non-heavy user like myself, the battery seems to deplete at least 40% to 50% in half a day. but i have to say that i have not run out of battery yet in any single day. maybe my observation is inaccurate.

keypad - i have to get used to the joystick been there between 2 and 5. when i sms, if too fast, will kena the joystick.

other than that, everything is good.

here is a picture taken by the p525 - http://img.photoamp.com/i/oKD53N.jpg

838pro better specs but so much bulkier. if you can tahan the thickness then get 838pro. for me i dun like qwerty keyboard and no need for 3g so better get p525 with keypad. good for one hand operation, sms, etc.

QUOTE(ryansia @ Sep 13 2006, 10:12 AM)
ok here's my turn for some questions.

Is the phone friendly for one hand operation? i spend a olt of time driving on the road.
i need to know if i could (operate in 1 hand, without tapping on the touch screen)
1. go into contact and make a call through the key pad without much hassle
2. go into message, open and reply like normal phone
3. navigate the menu/options via the joystick and button

those pda phones w/o keypad like atom, 6828 or 818pro are impossible to operate with 1 hand without loosing concerntration while driving......

appreciate if you could elaborate on the operation of the 3 questions above. thanks in advance.

1. go into contact and make a call through the key pad without much hassle
>>> just use voice command. there is no need to touch the screen or the keypad. just say "find so and so" or "call so and so" or "dial 012xxxxxxx"

2. go into message, open and reply like normal phone
>>> same as above - use voice command and it will read out loud all your messages. to write sms, just use the keypad like normal phones

3. navigate the menu/options via the joystick and button
>>> yes

and if you have a bluetooth headset, your p525 can be in the pouch, it can still do all that. voice command needs no voice training rclxms.gif

hi,

its suppose to suggest words for example -

lets say i press "4ghi", "6mno" - it should display a bunch of words like gold, hold, hole, etc

at the moment when i press these - it just shows - in, go, im, ho, io...

but now all it is doing is just spell it.

how about your keyboard?

Bugs :
#1 - when you use Voice Command to switch to Silent Mode and then switch back to Normal profile manually, the System volume does not adjust itself but stays at Silent.

#2 - no word suggestions when using T9 or keyboard when Word Suggestion is tuned on.

Dislikes :
- ringing sound too soft, wish it was louder.
- camera takes too long to take a picture
