Anyone ever changed their front glass before? How much does it cost?

You always run risk of roasting the phone board or processor when you overclock. As for custom rom vs custom kernel compatibility, check with the ROM maker and also the kernel maker. Not always everything is compatible. Your responsibility to check both.

SDS if under warranty go change... Wont matter if you're rooted or custom rom because can't check.

Err... The phone died? Wont charge, wont power on? Good enough a reason?

If you buy now for sure no more SDS insane chip inside. Mine was 1st bath from Aug last year. Died in March this year and Samsung replaced the entire phone board. Took them less than 24 hours no questions asked, even though my phone was rooted with CM10 installed. Service center also asked if I had problems with the USB cable and charger and if I do, bring for replacement. Apparently 1st batch USB cables and chargers were also defective but I don't know what the defect is as my charger and cable already eaten by my dog.

For those with insane chip but fortunately updated to 4.1.2 (or CM10 past this May, or CM10.1), its safe as one of the 4.1.2 updates includes a software workaround fix for the insane chip. Fortunate or unfortunate, I don't know, as the chip design flaw is still there, and apparently the software workaround fix does introduce some lagginess to the phone, according to xdadev forum user reports.

But if you buy now, and check that it was manufactured this year, you should be fine.

Edit: One more thing, the Snapdragon S4 LTE version is not affected at all, only the Exynos4 3G only version.

It DOESN'T turn on. What else is there to prove? Just go to service center and say phone won't turn on. Don't have to say anything about SDS or insane chip.

Can you connect to other wifi? Does your house wifi show up in the AP list? What error? If authentication failed check your password. Did you enter correctly? Did you enable MAC filtering on your AP? If yes enter your S3 MAC address inti the allowed list. Can you connect to other wifi like mcds or starbucks?? Have you tried resetting your router?

Is mobile data working? Can you update via mobile data? Does google play store page load up properly? Did it ask to update google play services? If yes, let it update. If not, fix some connection issues first.

Many things can be wrong. You'll have to describe your situation in more detail.

Its two different phones. Not even the same hardware except for external look.
