PASSWORD PROTECTED FOLDER OVER NETWORK (WIN XP)

I have created this simple guide just because there's too many FAQ about:
- How do I protect my files from other users in network?
- How do I secure my private files from other users?
- Can Windows XP make a secure folder login page over network?
- How do I make password-protected directory in My Network Places / Network Neighborhoods?
- and so on...
Hope this will answer all of those questions.

Kindly please view the attached:

OK...you've done all the steps above...but now you wanna try whether the password will work or not...so...I've tested using Win 98 and Win XP, and try to access my computer... In Win 98 case, you need to login using the username [must be the same as username you created in your computer]

Win 98:

1.

Type your username...must be the same as the username you created earlier.

2.

Access your computer by browsing network neighbourhood, or just click Start-> Run..type \\[your computername]\
Then a "Enter Network Password" will appear..enter the password you created earlier [in your own computer, or the host]..after you enter the correct pass, you can browse the folder..

Win XP:
For Windows XP, it's easy...

Just browse using Network Neighbourhood, or click Start->Run, type \\[your computer name]\

Then a windows like this will pops out:

Type the username and password....and you can access the folder...

There...if still got some trouble, feel free to ask biggrin.gif
