Since all of u were discussing the tactics to play hard AI on skirmish I thought i share my experience on it too

First, i notice the AI uses this strategy all the time on me. I guess it likes me like that.
First, it will send 1 engineer early in the round over to my side n convert a few mass collectors. The bastards. Then it will flank down the right side with a squad of Lighties. If that goes thru it will send another squad of Lighties down the left. It will either have on the left or right coast 2 frigates to attack ur mass converters that r in the centre next to the lake. If there is turret resistance it will send fliers to destroy the turrets (1st pri), ground units (2nd pri) and finally ur buildings. If u (by u i mean me) manage to hold off those attacks it will send a few Seige Bots over with the Lighties (Lighties used to take on coming turret fire n if they survive move behind the turrets causing them to turn away from the Seige Bots). N finally, either a Salem comes but not often or a MonkeyLord which is as u all say GG.
Early on i thought i'll take the outter islands n build my Ion gens n large mass fabs there with a navy to protect it. Well, it worked as the MonkeyLord ripped through the main base my small island bases held on. Built a few crusiers to make sure no frigates came over but build a hell a lot of Heavy Flaks n Point Defence.
A nice surpise awaited for me... MonkeyLord can traverse thru water. Pop up on my main resource island n killed it. I then thought build crap load of torpedos on my remaining island. That worked. 2 MonkeyLords bite it. There was glee on my face. Then sudden the flying experiental blimp thing came over. I thought I got so many Heavy Flaks (tech 2) it will be blown out of the air. No go. It ripped thru the turrets. Killed the torps. Then the MonkeyLord swam over n gave my Commander the kiss of death.
So I finally came up with a tactic that i have used 3 times in a row that works.
Build a land factory, build the gens n collectors. Get out 3 engineers n send them over to the other half of the island. On the right side of the island build 3 pairs of PD turrets n 1 pair of flaks near the lake. If u dont put it near the lake but near the resource point the frigates can hit them. The other 2 u send up to other resource points on his side n build 1 piar of PDs n 1 pair flaks. That should stops Lighties that pass by as well as any of the AI's engineers.
As we say in DOW cap ur resource points. Get 1 engineer to build a a radar near the lake n naval base in the lake. If ur PDs r doing their jobs u be blocking the AI from getting a 1/3 of his mass from his side of the island. Upgrade the naval to tech 2. Use 2 to 3 engineers to help. Build non stop Salems.
When u get ur first Salem out walk it to his base. It will help a lot of u put another radar tower on his side of the island on top of the lake so the Salem can use the radar to hit target out of it's sight as it moves in.
AI dies before even getting out a Salem of its own. Remember to help protect the Salems with a few PDs n flaks along the path it's gonna take to the enemy base (i suggest going up from the left side).
Interesting note... upgrade ur Commander's weapons to Microwave gun n nitrogen cooling. U get a Commander with the same firepower (MonkeyLord uses a Mircowave gun) like the MonkeyLord's.
Interesting note... Support Commanders have twice the HP as ur Commander. Does not have a Mircowave gun but still a powerful blaster (upgrade). Add auto regeneration pack for Assault Type SC or upgrade them to be a tech 3 Mass Collector (+12 mass n +1000 i think power bonus) n super builder. Support Commanders build at tech 3 already.
