About the sound thingy I had the same problem but figured it out. Guys you need to download the latest DX9.0c. I think the latest one was Feb 2007. Cause they have extra .dll files and some added DirectXsound file. Cant remember what its called. Start with X one. Haha anyway once I updated the latest DX9 then the sound came back on. However you need to remove the game and reinstall to make it work once you patch it.

Running it smooth and perfect on my PC. Woot nice nice.

Well for XP that fixed my problem. However with Vista its a concern because, I know that Supreme Commander doesnt use Direct X 10. Crysis will be the first full one DX10 game. So I would say update your direct X and then update your sound driver. I can say the developer of the sound of the game is pretty crappy. Everyone complaining everywhere. Regarding the sound issue. If you have a sound icon on your Windows Desktop
(by the clock), right click on the icon and choose volume control. Make
sure none of the settings are all the down or set to mute.

If everything looks correct, then check your Direct X version, sound card
and graphic card drivers. The latest version of Direct X is found on
Microsoft's website (at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx) and contact the
hardware manufacturer of your sound and graphic card to obtain the latest
hardware drivers.

If you have all the latest drivers installed and still have a problem, try
the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.

When the information loads up, click on Sound tab. You can use the Hardware
Sound Acceleration Level slider to correct audio glitches that might be
caused by some audio drivers. Reducing the acceleration by one notch and
re-testing the application is the best way to troubleshoot DirectSound audio
problems (Slide the Acceleration button from FULL to BASIC. Sometimes NONE
works the best with this game. You may also use the TEST button to test
your sound card to see it it's functioning properly in DirectX. If the
DirectX Diagnostic Tool detects a problem with your sound settings, a
warning message is displayed in the Notes box.

PS: There is also a talk saying that if you go to your volume control advanced settings, you can change it to desktop speakers and it works. Dunno about this. Try it out and let me know! Cheers!

Both. The say get your sound drivers updated to the latest one and also get the latest Direct X 9.0c. Yea you dont need the latest to run the game however those experiencing sound problems seems to have thier problems solved after the latest Direct X installed and updated thier sound drivers. DirectX 9.0c not only contains DirectX files for video but also DirectXsound which is more important in this case.

Like I said you need to update to the latest Direct X 9.0c (Feb 2007). You cant jut paste the downloaded d3dx9_31 and the x3DAudio1_1 file. Delete them. Download the latest and then install. It should work then. Update your sound drivers too. Hope that helps. Let me know.

Sounds like a video driver problem. What I suggest is you update your video graphic card to the latest drivers. I am suspecting that Direct X 9.0c updated some files which made the game crash because your graphic drivers are the latest. So update your graphic card drivers and try it again.
