First try, epic fail. Didn't know 482x802 actually took up the whole page. Will try 482x(maybe around 500-ish) next.

No trolling here, I had all iPhone's up to the 5, then I gave it to my girlfriend as I felt I had outgrown what apple could offer. I was at the point of only using an iPhone if it was jailbroken. Any one who likes simple interfaces and easy to use features get an iPhone, if you fancy something more exciting get an Android. Someone commented above that android just wasn't for them, that's what I said for five years thinking I had the "best" phone and feeling better than everyone else.

I then realized my worst fears I had become an iSheep.

Just one of the masses being steered in apples direction. I have nothing against apple as I love their hardware. But iPhone lost its allure when it started to reach the hands of every tom d*** and harry. I miss the days of only a select few being able to afford them.

================
My 2 cents ....

it's an effing phone FFS !!!! So why do you need to feel "special" ? Like women needing extremely skimpy lingerie to feel more confident???
*
funny how he associated iphone with 'select few'..shuda opt for Vertu if truly want to feel special..

what i did was take the picture i want, make it 482x<around400+> then add black colour to the remaining parts of the top to become 482x802. so for example my pic i manage to make it 482x440, then i need to add 482x362 black colour on top of the pic so it will become 482x802.
*
Ooo..haha..cool logic bro..will try that too

It's not "just a file system tweak". Ext2 was the old linux filesystem from I can't recall how many years back. Then they went to Ext3 and Ext4. Ext4 as the guy explained supports journaling ie allows recovery in case of screwed up writes. So I suppose Google chose the latest option with built in safety. And, this is a mobile device where you are expected to CHARGE your phone every day or so, and it is not a Nokia 3310 tongue.gif
*
Meaning if i were to change to Ext2..my note 2 would be prone to danger in case of faulty flash? ie now i could just reflash to get everything's in order..with Ext2 and faulty flash my phone gets to be paperweight?

Dont get the relationship between safety features for write failure and device charging..forgive me sire..for ayam noob

It's like changing your HDD from NTFS to FAT32. There are some safety features built into NTFS for better file management. As to bricking, there's always the risk when flashing, although I don't know if after you've converted to ext2, flashing a new ROM will reformat it as ext4. Maybe asking in that thread could be useful, since the OP says he has been using it for a long time.

Oh sorry....I didn't answer your question properly.

Write safety means increased I/O, therefore increased current usage. That's why ext2, without the I/O overhead, would logically save you some juice.
*
I get the part in regards to why ext2 saves more juice due to inexistence of safety features..much like cars with airbags cost more than the one without...bt i wonder is the risk worth the effort? If its just an increased in risk in terms of chances of bricking much like today..then ayam willing to do it..just put a reminder to change it back to ext4 when want to flash new rom..but if the risk involves is higher ie app needs reboot to properly installed pun boleh kena..then i shall shy shy awayla..lol..25% batt saving is worth the extra brain cell power to ponder i think

Interesting article, although I do not agree with all the points

Editorial: Apple, Google and the failure of Android's open
http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/07/06/...failure-of-open

========
Extremely long article, but apart from the first couple of paragraphs, it seems the author is just taking too much of a stab at the definition of open = poor/fail and that Android users are cheapskates....
*
I thought i bought samsung bcoz its openness for end user to adopt 3rd party to the extend of custom rom..apparently based on this article..i was dead wrong..its the TW that attracted me..i shall now contemplate on getting onboard the isheep herds...

Naaaaahhhhh...

Obsolete hardware is still every bit as functional as the new shiny..... I mean a Core 2 Duo is still as usable as a Core i3/i5 Ivy Bridge or Haswell unless you the need to play 100FPS for the latest games. My last PC lasted me 6 years before I did the upgrade.

Purely as a phone, there is no functional difference between a Nokia 3310 and the Note1/2/3 tongue.gif
*
I am still using the same laptop core2duo 8600M GT for my gaming..manage to enjoy no lag gaming of Batman: Arkham City, Diablo 3, Starwars 2, Mass Effect all series and Borderlands 2 although at low settings..still..the point is..its not the gun..its the shooter..

QUOTE(joytest @ Jul 9 2013, 11:27 PM)
You know, I don't know if you've watched the PC vs Mac ads that were popular a few years ago. There were many comments that the guy playing a Mac just had an overly smug expression that was begging for his face to be bashed in.

I guess this whole wrong attitude of snob appeal is in the DNA of the company, the products, AND the userbase........

Futete crapple.
*
I did watch it in fact..but I do not blame the actor..he is after all just an actor..their profession does not require them to seek satisfaction through hacking their gadgets etc..they are the epitome of iSheeps..IMO its the advertising teams that needed the head bash in..lolz..

hey muctabucta, remember the tw_status_bar_expanded.xml file in res\layout that we used for the notification background? i saw somewhere in xda forum stating that the brightness bar can be set to transparent within the same file as well. based on my assumption from what i can find in the file, my only logical assumption is to change the value here:

from this
android:id="@id/brightness_controller" android:background="#ff000000"

to this
android:id="@id/brightness_controller" android:background="#00000000"

i've not tried it out myself, but you can try it first if you want to and please share the results with us if you do. i will try it after work.

yo bro..thanx for the heads up..although I doubt I will be able to test it today..after office hours maybe..busy busy busy rclxub.gif rclxub.gif working like a dog..wooof woof!

Amoi arrr....rooting doesn't change anything on your phone laaaa. It just adds SU and allows root access and rwrrx controls with chmod etc.

It's what you do AFTER rooting that may or may not have further impacts.
