Hi,sorry for disturbing, but I need your help in reviving my gf's note 2

I bought my gf a note 2. I updated to latest version,DMF2, rooted with CF auto root, backup efs.

But I don't know why the phone got no radio/data. After reading through forums,I suspect it's the EFS folder damage? So I restored the efs I backup earlier. At first boot after restore still no signal,so I restarted the phone and got the signal, imei, mac address everything back. But the EFS seems to corrupt again when I reboot the phone the next time.

I then restored the EFS again and first boot no signal, second boot got back signal/imei/mac address everything working, third boot EFS corrupt again.

I got 2 backups of EFS.img at my PC,I tried to restored both but both give the same result.

Never installed custom rom on the phone, just need root to use some apps.

Anybody please advice what to do?Thanks notworthy.gif

Bro. U should read this. It's on the 1st post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332913

Did u check ur imei whether it is the same imei before u update?
Most probably I think u have to flash different modem.

Hi bro, thanks for the quick reply. Yup I did check the first post and did some readings through XDA

But I am not familiar with samsung system. I did flashed the recommended modem(mf1) from ROM XXDMF2-XME as the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...2&postcount=134

When should I flash the modem? Before or After restore of EFS? Or the power off time when I confirm the restored EFS is functioning? Very confusing, please guide me, thanks & sorry smile.gif

Edit: Yes,my backup EFS imei is correct 1,same with the imei provided in the phone box also

Try flashing older version of the rom. Meaning downgrade. Then change modem. If still no imei then restore ur efs.

Hopefully turns well. U should have posted or asked earlier when everyone is not asleep yet.
Btw referring from  dr. Ketan's post, did u flash the modem first or restore ur efs after flashing the latest firmware?
According to dr. Ketan u should restore efs first and check whether there is radio/signal or not.

Hi, thanks for the help. I couldn't just post the question when I face some problem without digging more into forums/tutorials. I am not noob in android, was messing with Motorola for 2.5 years and now using Xperia, so I know I should find the answer by myself first. But I am Samsung noob tongue.gif

I forgot I flash modem first EFS second or EFS first modem second,I tried every sequence and still ended up the signal lost after 1~2 reboots. I tried every possibility I could think of, triangle away, EFS repair, asking question here finally. After 4 hours of messing around with the phone, I tried few reboots/shutdown and finally it could still works after booting. I hope this is permanently fixed. thumbup.gif (I not yet flash older fw to downgrade, the problem seems fixed after messing around)

Don't ask me how did I fix that, too many tries & errors I made and I can't really tell which steps fixed the problem. rclxub.gif

Finally would like to thanks for your kind help again, appreciate notworthy.gif

I have also seen the XZ water proof flaps, they tend to get loose with repeated opening and closing. A number in the XZ thread mention water leaks despite closed flaps. The demo units also had terribly loose flaps.

On the XZU, the flaps are very long, which will also indicate the same looseness problems that will happen.

I use dock for my xz. Bluetooth for headset. SD/Sim flap I don't think we always open it. So where's the repeated opening & closing? tongue.gif

Btw,I used M.Defy which had flaps too. After 2 years of opening/closing of the usb flap,it was still waterproof biggrin.gif too bad the phone was unlucky being knocked out by me (not because of water issue) tongue.gif

hmm.gif Dock? Naked phone then. Just remember a screen replacement for the XZ is RM1088 thereabouts for the front and RM300 for the back.

My Nokia N82 also had broken flaps after about 18 months of use. The MDefy was something else. Yes that was one tough phone, my sister had it. Broke thru too many drops.
shocking.gif benny888 Butterfly replacement flaps for RM98????

Not really, I using 0.35mm casing which enable me to charge via dock, yup, it may still break when drop, but my friend's note 2 with casing(flip case) still got the screen broken after dropping, it's all depends on your luck. I dropped my xz nakedly from 2ft luckily nothing happen tongue.gif

Oh ya, Samsung quoted him 800 for screen replacement, not much difference from Sony biggrin.gif

Flip case is NOT a case I have said many times but people are fooled by the word "case". It is just a replacement back cover with a flip front cover that offers very very minimal to no protection. Yes luck plays a role. I'm not banging the XZ, but putting considerations for what has been recorded as happening.

He got conned for RM800....all posts here have stated it is RM700 or less. 700/800 vs 1000 is at least 20% difference ....

No, it's not back cover replacement casing, the casing covers all back and side without replacing of the back cover, so it's a 'case'.
