QUOTE(saru04 @ Nov 27 2014, 02:28 AM) Hey guys, Samsung 850 PRO is probably the best SSD in the market right now. That 10 years warranty is also no joke, just to show how confident Samsung is towards its reliability, durability and performance I just got my MSi laptop. Planning to change to SSD. Any recommendations? Want to go for performance type. So far what I have in mind is SAMSUNG 850 Pro. Any other suggestions that is better in terms of lifespan and performance? Apart from that, should I go for 256GB or 512GB? As I know the price difference is kinda huge. However you could still opt for cheaper models, like the Intel 530 240GB which is quite cheap at around RM400 ish. As to whether you require 256GB or 512GB, I guess that depends on you yourself lol. For me I *think* 256GB should be enough for me but if you have tons and tons of programs and games, probably should go for 512GB straight |

Just noticed 850 EVO is up on Amazon and it's blazing fast like the Pro version, packs the same high endurance, 5 years warranty and yet only USD249 for 500GB!!
I'm fed up of small SSDs liao, just get one BIG CAPACITY and install genuine Windows on it and be done with life for 5-6 years QUOTE(ViralTestUnit @ Dec 25 2014, 12:41 AM) Thinking to grab Samsung 840 EVO, but the problem is my MOBO only supports 3Gb/s sata. For general use, it's hard to even have that much bandwidth to utlize 6Gb/s that's why 3Gb/s is already more than enough for most It obviously will bottleneck the SSD but from my early research, it will only has significant difference for sequential read/write but not so for random read/write. I'm planning to utilise the SSD for OS (and some programs), which to my understanding usually has pattern of random access with relatively small data transfer sizes. Opinions would be greatly appreciated. |

It's the market leading SSD now Thanks. Can get it cheaper via Amazon because the prices here in Malaysia is pretty expensive in comparison. |
