If it is for "work", can consider those business class laptop already.
Some of these models has 4 RAM slots, so you could go 4x8G (32GB) RAM if you are so inclined to run your VM (edit: sorry, sorry, 4 RAM slots normally only in 15" model, 14" only 2 RAM slots so you could go 2x8=16GB)
And normally these business class laptop come with NBD on site warranty.
