As a college student, is it alright to splurge 3k-4k on a laptop , with the risk of theft and other mishap in mind.

Or should i just spend 2k on a dell laptop?

Adding up three year warranty , the price might shoot up to Y410p price.

Between the dell and lenovo , which tn screen is consider better?

To be honest, I'm getting the laptop for

-college assignment (computer engineering)
-games ( dota2 and football manager 2013)
-browsing + entertainment

I know quad core is overkill for me but I'm planning to use the laptop for 4-5 years.
I'm having this dilemma of just a few hundred more im getting a better spec.
2.5k I get dual core, add a bit 3k i get quad core + fhd, 3.5k i get re-15 ... zzzz
