- Any brands besides Acer/Mac

- Below MYR 4,000 (the less the better)

- MS Office, Photoshop, web surfing, streaming & watching movies, lite gaming (FB games & MapleStory)
- I tend to leave quite a few applications running at the same time, hopefully they could run smoothly?

- FHD

- Weighs around 3 kg or less

Looking for a durable one if possible, 'cause I might be using it for long (My current laptop is 10 years old or more blush.gif blush.gif )

Thank you smile.gif smile.gif

I would like to ask something...

What is "real quad-core i7" & "true i7 processors" and how to know that they are real/true?

They are all called i7 processors laugh.gif
Most of the time when people are talking about i7 processors, they refer to those really powerful, quad core variants, those that have a "MQ" (Haswell) or "QM" (Ivy Bridge/ Sandy Bridge) suffixes in the code name

There are some dual-core i7 processors as well, which are essentially higher-clocked i5 processors.
Those come with suffices "U" (Haswell) or "M" (Ivy Bridge) etc.
These processors are probably marketing gimmicks to attract less informed users? hmm.gif

* Sorry if I left out something haha XD

ICIC, thanks for the info

In your earlier post comparing MSI GE60 2OC i7 and ASUS N550JV-CN077H, you mentioned about the MSI is running on a real, quad-core i7 whereas the ASUS has a relatively "power-saving" i7

But aren't both them have the "MQ" suffix (i7-4700MQ & i7-4702MQ respectively)?

huh?  hmm.gif
There got to be some misunderstanding here laugh.gif
Just to make this clear.
An i7 that has a U suffix is only duo core.
An i7 that has MQ (or QM) suffix is quad core.
i7-4700MQ and i7-4702MQ both are quad core.
i7-4700MQ run slightly faster (2.4GHz turbo to 3.4GHz) compared to i704702MQ (2.2GHz turbo to 3.2GHz), but draw more power (47W TDP vs 37W TDP). Pro - better peak performance (if temp is under control and no throttling). Con - shorter battery running time.

OKOK clear now

Thank you both sifus rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Whether the laptop is durable or not is depended on your TLC, and lots of luck biggrin.gif
Lots of multi-task, get more RAM. 4G stick ~ RM100, 8G stick ~ RM200.
Smooth - get SSD. 128G ~ RM300, 256G ~ RM600.
Unless you do heavy lifting in Photoshop, you don't need powerful spec.

One more thing to ask

was considering 15" ASUS, Lenovo, MSI & Illegear, but the price of GE60-2OC seems different from the price list thread blink.gif blink.gif

Wanna ask something, is it recommended not to extend the warranty if buying a ASUS notebook?

Not so sure, since a lot of people complain ASUS local warranty service are Legendary bad, so I just skipped buy ASUS brand product go for others. tongue.gif

Should be RM350 from 3rd year, not worth it to extend?

Is it really that terrible ASUS warranty?

But I like their notebook cry.gif cry.gif
