hi sifus, want to know that lenovo Y series is good for a long term usage ?

thanks
*
what kind of long term usage is it?
if you are talking about gaming and heavy use, it is definitely good.
if you are talking about idling, it can even handle long hours idling.

2.2k can get 17 inch?
but seem to big to be mobile lei  hmm.gif

Yup, not many cheap 17" in Malaysia, not popular at all smile.gif Most potential buyers have the same opinion like you, with adapter, the whole thing weight close to 4kg tongue.gif

Another cheap 17" is this:
MSI
MSI CX70 [0ND-030MY], i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT640M + (1600x900)@RM2999[2.7kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HP

Generally, for old uncle / aunty with not so good eye sight, who want laptop but don't need to bring laptop out of house, these are the models that are suitable laugh.gif (I'm not implying you are old, ok laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif )

Well, is your Windows 8 Retail or OEM?
Only Retail version can legally transfer.

You bought it from Microsoft using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant?
If yes, then you can transfer it, just need to remove it from the old pc.

I am looking for a lightweight laptop,
budget 3k~4k
having a green, decent battery life and no heat issue.
Something like Mac Air but minus the iOS as might need windows to run some research application.

I am actually buying in the UK, so have to expect the price to +25% due to VAT reason.

I was thinking to buy the newer Intel Haswell Processor, so far offering in UK is only the MSI, the Sony (Tablet and VAIO Pro) or Macbook Air.

Not sure if I should go for the Macbook as I am using one for myself currently (this is mean for my girlfriend). She would need to install some applications which is only supported by windows.
