QUOTE(strife91 @ Jul 7 2013, 01:42 PM)
Hi guys, i'm looking for a laptop below 3k if possible but 3.5k is my limit
I'm looking for Lenovo Y510 previously but my friend told me that the wireless card have problem.. So this model will be my last choice

Now i'm looking at Toshiba Satellite P50. It's available at Asia Toshiba PC page but it seem like its not in Malaysia yet... Anyone know this laptop, if yes what is the price? http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/my/notebook/per.../satellite/P50.. additionally, if anyone have any idea of this mode, Is it equipped with keyboard backlit?

OK now this is what i'm finding aside of this 2 model

Preferred Brand: Any brand as long as the laptop is good rating
Budget: 2k-3.5k
Usage: multimedia and gaming.. I've like to have graphic card in GDDR5 and also a haswell i7 processor (MUST!)
Screen size : 15.6 inch
Others : preferred Keyboard backlit & 1080P display
Preferred laptop: Illegear Re15, new generation of Asus N series which i dont know when will it be released, Toshiba Satellite P50, Lenovo Y510p

Thanks for the help biggrin.gif

I think you are referring to the Y500, which is not as bad as most people say haha, not for the price laugh.gif
Pretty much the ones you mentioned, can wait to see whether there are any promotions for Raya XD

Can consider this one as well:
15.6"
MSI GE60-ONC, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX675M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3299, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, backlit keyboard

As for the Toshiba:
Toshiba Satellite P50t-A102X, i7-3547U + Nvidia GT740M + (1366x768; touch)@RM3899[harman/kardon], 8GB, 1TB, W8SL; 3 years local warranty (1st year on-site); color: silver

* Gaming depends more on GPU rather than CPU

Hey guys, any recommendation for laptop

1. Preferred Brand - Any brand
2. Budget - below 3k
3. Usage - Games such as FIFA/PES, watching 720-1080p vids, browsing,      programming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14" or 15.6" only
5. SSD
6. Killer wireless network card
*
Wah, that's asking for a lot for the budget laugh.gif
Closest would be the Lenovo Y410p or Y500 mate, no SSD and Killer WiFi card though.

Or you opt for the Illegear R-11 or RE-15 with those customization options. But need to up budget, of course hmm.gif

Hi,

I have narrowed down my laptop list to :
Macbook air mid2013 256gb
macbook pro (latest version) 256gb

I am a computer science student but I prefer macbook air a lot. Some of my friends are actually recommending me to go for the macbook pro as it might be more powerful.

Any advice?

2. Budget > RM 4000 or less
3. Usage > light gaming. more to Office use and study. windows / Mac OS also can.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size > 13' is prefferable i guess. lightweight.

i'll buy it for my further study. so i'll prefer a lightweight laptop / ultrabooks.  i'm looking for MBA 13'. but need another option. pls suggest some ultrabook with budget less than RM 400. Thankss smile.gif

Hey man haha, nice to see you here notworthy.gif

Well, if you don't game (assuming your light gaming = FB games etc.), then there are a lot of choices:
13"
Acer

Asus
[Ultrabook] UX31A-C4059, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080; touch)@RM3799[1.3kg], 4GB, W8
[Ultrabook] UX31A-R4005H, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080)@RM3599[1.3kg], 4GB, W8

Dell
[Ultrabook] XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.36kg], 4GB, W8, backlit

HP
[Ultrabook] Envy SpectreXT 13-2215TU, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.39kg], 4GB, W8,backlit keyboard

Lenovo
[ultrabook]IdeaPad Yoga 13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399, 4GB, 2 years; colors: grey/orange

Sony
[Ultrabook] Vaio SVT13133CVS, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768; touch) + (24GB SSD + 500GBHDD)@RM2799[1.6kg], 4GB, W8; color: silver; Vaio carrying case
[Ultrabook] Vaio SVT13126CVS, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768;touch) + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.66kg], 4GB, W8; color: silver; Vaio carrying case
[Ultrabook] Vaio SVT13136CVS, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768;touch) + 128GB SSD@RM2999[1.66kg], 4GB, W8; color: silver; Vaio carrying case

Toshiba [Ultrabook] Portégé Z930-2035, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3799[1.12kg], W8, 6GB, 3 years warranty (1st year on-site)

* Prices in RRP, negotiable icon_rolleyes.gif
* the Toshiba Z930 is the lightest among the lot, but the keyboard buttons are really shallow, might be painful after prolong usage.
* My vote will be on the Dell XPS 13 since it is voted as one of the best ultrabooks out there. Use remaining budget for warranty extension to 3 years complete cover. You can expect quality as good as Apple's.
If you want a FullHD variant of the XPS13 , can consider this too:
13"
Dell [Ultrabook] XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 256GB SSD + (1920x1080)@RM4299[1.36kg], 8GB, W8, backlit

*shouldn't be a problem to get one within RM4k, but you won't have any money left for warranty extension

Asus [Ultrabook]K46CM-WX060V, B987 + Nvidia GT630M@RM1699[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD; 2 years international warranty

Other cheaper Asus notebooks have only 1 year international warranty (which makes it similar to notebooks from all other brands)

As for Lenovo, the warranty is not fully international, better check and see whether the warranty covers the area you are going to 1st prior to purchase nod.gif

Not really business, I edited my post a bit, because is mainly usage at mentioned over there, surfing internet wifi because outdoor mostly like at kopitiam or starbuck area, and then light video streaming like watching some short 5-10min video or maybe youtube, then mostly work on microsoft office like word or powerpoint, do some email, so that is why Battery last long and Weight must be light enough like ultrabook type to carry or run around.

Previously bought one Asus S400CA for my friend, but before thought of getting the same one, must ask all the SiFu around here for other choice. notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

All these are better than the G400S, which is a budget notebook possibly with a few corners cut tongue.gif
Which one to choose really depends on you... perhaps a pink notebook from Sony? laugh.gif
