1. Any Brand Will Do,
2.  max rm3.5k
3. Gaming and Browsing mainly, i need really fast laptop to do my work.
4. 15 inch.

anyone can help me recommend?

btw, whats the main difference between the i7 MQ and U, does the perfomance differ alot?
*
What kind of "work" are you performing? smile.gif
Quad core is necessary if your apps churns large set of data continuously and your apps support it.
Otherwise how "fast" a normal laptop could go is actually bottlenecked by the slooooow HDD tongue.gif Swap out the HDD for SSD (128G ~ RM300, 256G ~ RM600) for major improvement.

Acer

Turns out this model is no longer available. They replaced it with GT720 , both i5 and i3
Gt720 no good right?

The thing about models that are getting refreshed - you may need to do some leg work to find them if you really want them.
Some re-sellers don't stock inventories (actually a good idea from their perspective).
Some re-sellers has old stocks biggrin.gif
For example, Z480 was not supplied by Lenovo for > 4 months. The other day one LYNer asked about blue colour laptop for tight budget. Yesterday, I saw one blue Z480 right at a shop lot in Kepong Aeon Big (as I did my grocery shopping), selling cheap smile.gif

Anyway, GT720M, as arc x mentioned, perform similar like GT630M / GT635M.
But G400s is slimmer, so make sure you has good external cooling when you game smile.gif

1. Any Brand
2. Within RM2k range
3. Just basic usage light word editiing, watch movie
4. 14 inch

*If possible with DOS lor xD,without GPU also ok since for lightweight usage or not most important is the weight. biggrin.gif
I think the most suitable one for me is this
Vostro 5460, i3-3120M + HD 4000@RM1,549[1.54kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu 12.04, 3 cell

That Vostro 5460 fit you to a tee tongue.gif
Slap in a SSD (128G ~ RM300) to replace the HDD for a really satisfying user experience thumbup.gif

personally i dun use mac air smile.gif unless ur work reli need their OS (like some engineering or drawing software) , otherwise stick to Windows as u can get conventional programme easier and more options =)

And also lower price for same specs rclxms.gif build actually price count into their build quality , so u can see around this kind of price in zenbook and samsung ultrabook coz they both uses same top notch build quality , screen in Samsung and Zenbook would easily blew mac air off biggrin.gif

Coming back to the MBA that I mentioned earlier eh? brows.gif
MacBookAir 13", i5-4250U + Intel HD5000 + 128GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3299[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX
MacBookAir 13", i5-4250U + Intel HD5000 + 256GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3899[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

Good stuff. If you want best battery running time, this is the ONE right now.
Haswell, spec with HD5000 (best IGPU for ultrabook without discrete GPU). The SSD also is the fastest in the market right now (proprietary but very similar to m.2 port)
Within your budget.
As I mentioned, if you need win OS, just run bootcamp (it is fully supported by Apple).

Apple is cool, apple is best  rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif (not very good at doing a mock apple fanboi chant  laugh.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif )
I suggested Apple MBA since it is the first major brand come out with Haswell spec ultrabook that really push performance and battery running time to new level.
The rest of brands have not really release lots of Haswell spec ultrabook in Malaysia yet.
For ultrabook, Haswell really is worth the wait. If you are not in a hurry, wait for a few more months for more choices.

haha rclxms.gif
i'm actually asking for a friend of mine, i suggested the MBA too but she just idk dont like apple or something rolleyes.gif
She can wait so if you say Haswell is worth the wait i think i'll ask her to wait then biggrin.gif
Thanks btw smile.gif

What a rarity, a girl who don't like Apple hmm.gif laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Yes, come back in 3 months (around October). W8.1 will be out for a month by then. Haswell production will be in full swing, brands will push out all models to position for western holidays season.
And we will have ample time to know how good the other brands are packaging Haswell. Choices galore thumbup.gif

My work require a lot of video editing, in which I found very handy in using mac software (love how they compress HD file). The price of Zenbook and Samsung I think is a more or less of a mac air I think..

It's not wrong to have more option right? tongue.gif

I think there is no reason to buy that price for mac, just to use win OS. I read through reviews and mac air probably the one suits me well for now.

Any other opinions are welcomed. thumbup.gif

One of the flaw in which the screen is not matte and low resolution . Also , too simple design smile.gif forgive me to say so , they just use the same design every year .

U mean glossy (not matte?). Yeap, the design is at simplest as it is, but I prefer 'minimalist' design to keep things simple and clean.

How about Dell and HP? Hear lot bad news for HP before but I am not sure on their ultrabook market..
