QUOTE(goldfries @ Jul 5 2013, 10:47 PM) My take - when starting business, be realistic. No reason to aim for high-end everything. Get a simple video editing software, even the one I mentioned is so cheap and yet you can already have more than enough for basic video editing. Those basic stuff once put together properly, still can impress. Just even a Core i3 setup with a cheap software would work fine. You take a bit longer to encode the video but it's justified. Once have more money, just upgrade the hardware to improve the video production time. As for the software, if it works fine then there's no reason at all to go full Adobe suite. QUOTE(LegendLee @ Jul 6 2013, 02:24 AM) If one is going to use adobe premier exclusively, I don't see any reason to get a Mac. Ooohh....thanks for the advice! If I have the budget, I'll get the new razer blade laptop for adobe premier lol. Either way, it's not the cool effects and what not that makes a video good. Gotta get the basics right like simple cut, merge, sync and flow. Don't need advance features most of the time. |

Let it be Adobe, Canopus, Vegas, Corel/Ulead, Avid or even Pinnacle, doing video for business, you'll surely need to know how to edit videos that will make your customers go "huaaaaaaaaaa"! If you cant produce that, then any FREE softwares can do the work! At the end of the day, you will be spending more time together. So get something friendly but gives you a good output as in good quality video. Some softwares compromise on quality but they are easy to work with. Tricky eh!
Hardware? You'll need something good as you'll need to play 1920x1080 videos at 25 fps in editing and not some jerking playbacks. Then you will need to finalize into a DVD which should be happening within 15 - 20 minutes. Old P4s would take hours just to put the videos into a DVD after editing. I would say an i7 would do the job just fine with the exception of a good mobo and gf card. For laptops, go for branded i7s and of course Mac would be a better choice if budget allows. Smart investing doesn't need heavy budget. Good luck. My preference :- For plenty of effects - Canopus or Vegas and for good quality, Adobe Premiere. |

I am also just starting to devil in video editing, having learn (abandon the skills for 8mm years ago, very very expensive).. Premiere CS6 runs well on my mid range Toshiba I5 laptop + 8GB memory lap top for now. 4Gb and you will hit snags if the video file is big or if you load heaps and cannot wait. If you have a big table top screen add on, it will be great for starters without having to invest too much and able to experiment with this new venture.
What you can do is to use your still photo and convert it to video. To learn how to deploy Ken Burns effect and master that first.. in the video editor. IT is easy to shoot, cut and paste, produce mediocre results an hope to impress; but need a lot of very hard work to be a perfectionist. Have fun like what I am right now.. |
