lucifah,
Did you work in S'pore before? I'm thinking from the point of Pachasing Parity Index. e.g. if I want to buy a plasma TV, it will cost me 1-2 months salart here. Over there, it is only 0.5-1month. And talk about car, recent rise in petrol really take out allot of my expenses. ------------------M'sia----------------------S'pore Toyota VIOS---RM90k--------------------S$75k + COE Broadband-----RM88(1M)-----------------S$43(1.5M) Meal(Hawker)--RM5-----------------------S$5 Room Rental---RM350 (KL)---------------S$500 Looks like cost of living in S'pore isn't really that high afterall. Above is just information I collected. Perhaps I've overlooked something important that I need to consider? This post has been edited by yixings: May 11 2006, 05:20 PM |

QUOTE(Mavik @ May 11 2006, 05:27 PM) Are you looking at this from a money perspective or in terms of career prospects? Thanks. I think more on $$$ perspective. As for career wise, I can learn something new that I couldn't find in local market, but I've got no knowledge about the promotional/increment opportunity of the new company. You need to know then it will help with your decision factor. But sounds to me that the increment in S'pore might be slower compared to here, for my industry. This post has been edited by yixings: May 11 2006, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(normaldude @ May 11 2006, 09:30 PM) I guess it depends where you want to settle down. Thanks. I don't have much commitment at present stage. Yeah, company sales doesn't meant much. I was told that if dollar to dollar, my present salary should be in managerial level. Can anyone tell me that the offer is it inline with the market average?I'm around the same range as you and if I were you, I'll stick to the job in Malaysia. At this level, it is risky to job hop very much already. I don't think company sales really matter very much to me.. as long as I see there are opportunity to grow. Some companies make lots of money but is very stingy. But senior to junior is a demotion to me and even the pay is a decrease. Just because it is in Sing dollars, dollar for dollar.. it is still a decrease. However, if you feel you are not going anywhere with your current job, you should leave. Keep in mind that the higher up you go, jobs are still available but it might take time. Also need to consider if you have a family.. where you plan to stay, your current commitments, etc. You're not only changing jobs, but changing the country you will live in, so think harder.. even though Singapore is just nearby. |

QUOTE(ycinator @ May 12 2006, 11:09 AM) yeah dude... based on ur salary range i believe u r good enuf to make the decision urself... jus u need some ..hmm... maybe a bit more confident to push urself to make the decision ? guess only though.... You're right. I just lacked of confident for final push. I wish to get some first hand experience, perhaps negative one, to make up my mind.as for me, singapore isnt a good place to challege urself so i will rather stay in malaysia rather than singapore... malaysia is not well establish yet so there is still lots of things out here waiting for u to explore^^ jus my 2 cents thought Why do you think S'pore isn't a good place to challenge onself? I thought it would be more competative, as lots of expatriates working there? Thanks anyway. |
