I'm sorry, but Toei is starting to lose their touch already. We have like freaking Gundam lookalike armors now?? A battlizer?? Come on Toei, this is abit too much! It was all about the stories till W came along(which was STILL acceptable) and from there, Bandai is trying to milk all the people into buying their merchandises! And the Rider designs are just getting slightly ridiculous! Fourze especially! Are you kidding me Toei! Kamen Rider used to be about righteous, justice and peace for all, now it's like turning into like another Sentai! Full of extra add-ons and power ups! Geez man, the Showa Riders would be so disappointed to see how much of a sellout their future generations has become! Sure, it looks nice but honestly, it's killing off the Kamen Rider spirits already! I'm pretty damn sure that Shotaro Ishinomori sensei is crying in his grave right now! Onore Bandai and Toei!!!!     

This is just my personal opinion...

I feel that the current Kamen Rider series have their own theme that they wanna instil to the audiences...
W - it's about sense of justice and brotherhood
OOO - it's encouraging people to give and sacrifice for the benefit of everyone
Fourze - Friendship
Wizard - Do not give up Hope...

As for Gaim, it's still too early to tell. However, these are positive messages to the kids. As Japan is going through a tough time, economically and all the natural disaster, they need to bring out positive messages to the kids to make them stronger.. This is the Kamen Rider Spirit!!

As for the upgrades and costume change. Yes, I agree partly is because of mechandising. but overall, they just wanna keep the kids looking forward to the show by showing something new and interesting. Gone are the days that the Riders can go thru the whole year with the same costume. Now, they have to keep the interest and attention of the kids. So, I don't think it's too much if they have 9 forms (like Wizard) for the whole year. In fact, I have been waiting exciting every time there is an upgrade.

I am going into my forties, and I can still proudly say, I love Kamen Riders!!!

From what I can see, during the debut, new riders basic form are shown to be stronger than any other upgrade / ultimate forms of the current riders. Then the new riders will somehow get weaker and weaker as the story progress and they need an upgrade... Hmmm... this has been repeating since... Decade I think.
