Be prepared to spend 2-5k to spruce up the unit, most are company cars that have seen heavy usage.
Common parts that need repplacemet is absorbers, water pump, starter ecu, power steering pump. Good news is that the Renault service centre is very good and experienceed with kangoos I got mine at 130k km, spent some money doing it up now it's 150k, I love the car |

QUOTE(kurty @ Jul 2 2013, 01:56 PM) not really...front absorbers are rm980, oil filters rm45, water pump rm400. The only thing i found expensive was a replacement key, as the new lock assembly cost rm550....but no worse then any other car with smart keys, BMW would cost you rm1k for same thingyou save money from purchasing a kangoo as a Alza is 50k+ |

The diesel is more powerful and very frugal, plus you can get it as a manual car then. But sadly only the panel version.
The key... If you only need the casing you can order it from DX.com. Since the one they have is internally different you need to hack it with a putty knife, but it will work just fine. We bought our Kangoo from a teacher who used it as her family car at 80k, now it is at almost 120k. Still going strong. A bit of wear and tear, the only bad thing was the catalytic converter at 7k. I think now I should be able to find a cheaper one... The SC in JB knows what it is doing and will install parts that you brought yourself, I find their pricing to be reasonable. If you can SG is a great resource, they have almost all parts in stock. Prices range from 1/3 to 2/3 of the price in Malaysia (TC), depending on if you want genuine parts OEM equivalent ones. I have had a dog in my Kangoo once (sent him to the clinic), he LOVED it. Problem was getting him out of the car... and that he jumped around. There's just too much space... the panel van version with grills may make more sense. Servicing is between 220 (10, 30, ...) and 450 (20, 40, ..) IIRC, except for the 60 and 120k service. They will check your car for anything that can come up in future, which is great cause it won't break down then (if you fix them soon enough) and you can look for/order spare parts in time before having to buy expensive TC parts. Oh yeah, and it is a great car. I love it. This post has been edited by kadajawi: Jul 2 2013, 03:02 PM |

Been launched already. They made the suspension uncomfortable, made the interior ugly, made the exterior prettier and changed the ffront seats. The car is also built by Renault.btw i almost buy this car for company use, but setttled with daihatsu granmax finally |

Since Proton don't mind copying design from others, why can't they just copy the good one properly?
you see saga, exora, persona, aiyoo |

I think the amount of auto 1.4 petrol and 1.5 diesel are pretty much equivalent. It's not that easy getting replacement part from chop shops. However if you are purchasing new parts for wear and tear maintenance, I think it's pretty easy as some of the parts are similar to peugeot out and Citroen.
Am fixing up my 1.4 petrol which I've bought it used a year ago, few stuff gotta change hence on the lookout on eBay and local parts shop (if urgently needed). Petrol engine has less power however the engine weight also lightens up the front of the car. The auto gearbox is pretty decent , my only concern is the easily overheated TCU which so far is doing good without any hiccups after I've relocated it from it's original location. |

It might be one of the worst I've driven (well, I generally hate auto gearboxes, but this one is still quite special. Smooth-ish enough, but eats up all the performance). The manual should be very robust, plus it makes more of the engine power. Most of the time I drive a Citroen Xsara, 75 hp 1.4, 5 speed manual. It's a bit heavier than the 75 1.4 Kangoo with 4 speed auto, but the acceleration is on a different planet. Yes, obviously the Kangoo will have problems with aerodynamics, but even at lower speeds the difference is massive. I doubt it's all because of the engine. The fuel consumption of the Kangoo is much higher too. I drive my Xsara at 140-160 mostly, and it'll do 7-8 liter per 100 km. The Kangoo will, driven slower, because it won't get that fast anyway, at least drink 10 liter.Am fixing up my 1.4 petrol which I've bought it used a year ago, few stuff gotta change hence on the lookout on eBay and local parts shop (if urgently needed). I've heard of Clio RS engine swaps, which means roughly 200 hp. |

Felt that is needs to be rev up around 4K-5k range to get some push out of it. |

There was also a VW Caddy (similar to the Kangoo) with two engines... can't remember how much they produced, but it was quite a bit.is the xsara using the same petrol engine too? No, but they should be relatively similar in terms of performance. In Europe the Kangoo often had the engine used in the Proton Savvy. The 1.2 with 75 hp (which for Renault was the successor to the 1.4 with 75 hp... not sure why Tan Chong decided to use it for the Malaysian market. Using the same engine as a Proton would help with keeping running costs low). Perhaps that is an option for you in terms of a relatively easy swap? |
