Hi All's ... I'm in the mid of upgrading my 2011 Suzuki Swift tyre & rim ..

I would like some help from you guys as I'm not sure on the specsĀ  .

I'm thinking of using 205/45/17 from my current 185/55/15 ..

Can suggest to me a good but cheap trye on the 17's and does it have bad impact

on the driving and fc if my swift is on stock condition?

Can I use 205/50/17 tyre ?

Your info is much appreciated /... TQ

Not recommended at all to use those 17's as they're too big already (>5-6% bigger compared to std size). Max recommended tolerance limit is lower than 3%. So if you force to use 17, you can only use 205/40/17 which is already almost 2% bigger, but I believe you'll regret it because the ride comfort will be gone due to wafer thin tires!
Additionally, going 17 for such small car also will make your FC, pick-up, braking, even handling to suffer noticeably.

I suggest if you want to upgrade your rims, just stay with 15' but wider like 15x7 and get lightweight one (about 5kg), then use 205/50/15. This is the best option as it will give you the most improvement in stability and handling, much better stance/look, without sacrificing anything much.

If you die-die have want to upgrade diameter, then max can only go 16' and use 195/50/16. Even this is already almost reaching the 3% max recommended increase of diameter. The ride comfort will reduce a bit due to thinner tires, and handling will still improve but not as good as the 205/50/15 above. You wil need to also get the lightest rims you can afford (for 16' should be max around 6kg only) or else you'll FC, acceleration, and braking will drop.

Btw you can calculate with this:

So in summary better forget the 17! biggrin.gif

Hi guys

How about if I change to the wider type 15x8 jj one. Does that effect the handling or comfort too much?

I am using 17 now and it is not comfortable but look wise is different story. Mpg also very much effected.

15x8 should be ok as long as can still fit inside the fenders. Might be difficult to find tires that's wide enough though, cause at least should use 215.
