 window corrupt ! how to copy c: file to d:, without reinstall first

always face this technical problem..


When window corrupt or can't boot it up..

Some very important files still in C:my document..

How to copy it out before reinstall..??


what is the command to replace boot log ??
if window cant boot

then copy...

or.. if u master dos command...
use the dos tongue.gif

Remove HDD and put it into another PC that works.

Or you can use a Live Linux CD like the ones available at ubuntu distro page.

Are you talking about using DOS start up disk ?
Does dos command support NTFS ..?

there are some bootup rescue CDs that allow you to bootup with some freeware tools. Those have some basic files management and partition and other software.

I forgot what it's call. Maybe you can google around.

As for using DOS, there's NTFS DOS that support NTFS partition.

Also, you said that your system always corrupt. If it corrupts that often then you might have some problems with either your hardware or your habits of using Windows.

i prefer using Slax to boot then copy+paste all the important documents in C:\ drive to D:\
since it's now supporting NTFS write... kewl!

I use knoppix. Boot up with the live CD, and copy over. I think it supports NTFS write now (cant remember), but I usually copy it to my spard HDD that is FAT32 anyway. Knoppis is quite good and fast.

yea.. some opt to Linux once Windows cant get any better
I'm not sure on using PEBuider but this shud give it a try
so for the story of Linux Live CD u can easily drag and drop the C:\ files into ur D:\
that wont make any trouble for avid WinOS fan

It all depends on what is the error message. What error do you get?

lol.. i bliv when ur windows is down everything's down as well.. the only thing will work is ur cd-rom, keyboard,mouse the rest also cant work.
