Hi all, just had a new issue with my 2004 Kelisa 1.0 (A) Ezi.

This happened twice, both times the car started & ran fine. I went to some place, switch off the car & when I come back it won't start. ECU & engine light show up but the battery light won't show.

Both times I get out of the car, close the doors & lock the car using the remote. And then open it up again, switch on & it will start normal as if nothing happened. All light turn up & start in one switch.

Battery I guess is fine as it always starts in the morning, it is only after I switch it off at some place & then switch on that it causes the problem.

What could be the issue here?  unsure.gif

I think that prob is caused by dying battery. Happened to my mom's Kelisa few time like that also, just stop the car few min, then go back to start the car, turn the key, nothing happen, won't even crank. Open the hood to check this and that, try start again, started up like normal (doesn't feel like a weak battery too). After a week or 2, the battery totally dead. After change battery the prob never occur again.

My kelisa serpentine belt is started to deteriorate and broke just now sad.gif
I dunno what happen just now, suddenly I heard a noise coming from the engine without warning, when i stop the car to check, it was a semi-broken belt. 2 of the belt drive was affected, water pump and power steering.
How much is the cost to replace it?

Another question is, kelisa camshaft pulley belt/drive chain is separated from the accessories drive belt right? Just incase if 2moro i drive to workshop in the middle of the road and the belt totally snap wont cause a catastrophic engine failure right?

Boon, how's your car? The belt you show basically are for water pump, power steering, alternator(not shown) and air cond(not shown in your picture.)
Mike or those recently changed cam(head) cover, any particular reason for you guys to change it? Curious what can go wrong with cam cover. If leak oil then normally not change only the black rubber cam cover gasket?
For those driving auto, do you guys change gearbox oil and it's gearbox filter? The vibration that u guys talk about, does it happen when in "D" in your gear and you brake? If put to neutral, does it vibrate lesser compare to "D"?

Hi kong, that day when I was on the way to workshop, power steering pump belt broke off, no more power steering. My mechanic replaced all the belt on the engine, except the timing belt (Cam belt). The mechanic say all of my belt failed at the same time could be caused by the leaking valve cover gasket, but i dunno that the case or not because even though my 12 year old kelisa only has 40000 km on it but never been replaced before, could be too old and started to worn out already.
He say the oil could make the rubber in the belt slowly expand then deteriorate (the shiny spot on the water pump are oil), so he do a valve cover and gasket replacement for me.

On my kelisa also has the vibration when in D and R, when R the vibration is more worst. My engine mount already worn out, that what causing all the vibrations, need replacement soon.

Btw, what do u guys think of my engine? Considered dirty?

Yup, I think it's because of your belt rubber deteriorate due to "old" age also. Better check also your timing belt if that's the case. Don't play play with timing belt. This one snap, you need to replace more than just timing belt. Same like car tyre, even if got thread after using 3-4years, you look closely, there's fine hairline crack. Better change when you have time rather than have it changed by highway plus patrol cars at highway!  tongue.gif

They replace the cam(valve) cover also? Why?

Have you changed/flush gearbox oil? Sometime gearbox actuator don't function properly with old dirty oil. There should be gearbox oil filter also. Not necessarily all vibration related to engine mounting.

Engine head looks fine to me.
*
Next service I will do the timing belt and engine mount replacement, I cannot tahan the vibration at low rpm already

They replace the cover also because he say my spark plug rubber boot is leaking also. He told me whole unit must go because the spark plug boot is unremovable due to it is riveted into the valve cover. But I have doubt in that .

I never flush my gearbox oil before. So far my gearbox still shifting smoothly. I am quite sure my engine mount is worn out already, because when shifting into gear, the engine will move and shake.

Story time.

Last week my friend brought me to Cameron Highland in his Waja. We went through the Tapah - Cameron route and it was amazing. It ignited an idea that I have buried long time ago, to have a driver's car.

So with my 2004 Kelisa 1.0 manual, it will certainly be fun on these winding mountain roads. But it lacks power. So now a K3-VE engine upgrade from Daihatsu Storia came to my mind, and I would like to know if any owner here have done it.

How much is your engine transplant cost?

Cost of suspension and brake upgrade?

JPJ approved the car after mod?

How's the reliability after the mod?

The K3-VE vibrate more than the stock EJ-DE? Or much refine than the stock engine?
I found a garage that specialized in the transplant, very tempting...

I pretty sure JPJ can approve that, but no confirm
4 cylinder engine should be more refined than 3 cylinder, because it is more balanced and vibrate less

If i am correct, kelisa doesn't have fuel warning light when the fuel gets low right ?
And how much fuel is left once the needle touch E ? Because that day i go pump petrol when the needle touch E and i have pump 27L which indicate to me still have 13L of fuel left in the tank, is that normal or my fuel gauge is not accurate liao?

I always pump 27-29 litres and when it reach needle E. SO bro dun worry about your fuel indicator. I have tried once to pump 31litres before, it depends how low fuel you are willing to risk~ brows.gif

Phew... i tot my gauge really out of accuracy liao sweat.gif
When needle reach E the furthest u tried is how many KM?

Last month I had a refill 592km, refilling 28.456litres.
How about you? Other than this, Mind to share anything about your kelisa?
I only start monitor FC last year after govt cancel subsidy, so not yet have chance to try full long distance.

Mine is an auto, refill roughly the same as u, can get 480km 50% highway 50% city. My car already pass service interval but haven't go and do it yet. Btw, how old is your kelisa and millage ?

Hehe.. why pass service interval but didn't go? As stated in post #592, my mileage is 203k km,  a manual which has serve me well since Jan2006. How about yours? My car boot door and driver door has rattling, dunno can simple fix or need to change whole door.
*
Servicing stuff is managed by my dad, he not free to take the car for servicing, last time because he is not free also push the car 2k km from service interval. Mine is year 2001, have run 46K km. Recently I also noticed under the dash was rattling quite badly when the engine is pulling around 2500rpm, but i am pretty sure that is caused by accidents damage due to last time the repair guy didn't put the under dash properly. Other than that, the car is shaking and vibrating a lot, the engine mount has gone bad, the mounting never been changed before. And the passenger side door rubber seal also gone bad already, sometime raining water will leak from there, 1 or 2 drop like that. Your engine mount got replaced before?

All is stock mounting yesterday, but this morning change front mounting due to broken already + repair engine oil leak and change engine oil+ refurbish driver seat. I insisted on original mounting but never verify la.. less vibration now, but I actually prefer before the feel I had when I accelerate to 3000rpm. Now can't really feel when I forget to up the gear. Hehe.. Maybe is my clutch/gear problem. I suggest you replace your mounting before it affects other part of car.
*
Ya, that the thing I need to replace in this service + timing belt, now when i masuk gear the engine move alot blush.gif.
Which part your engine is leaking oil?
