QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jul 16 2013, 08:46 PM) to me worth it la just that its blardy annoying having to change it every 2-3 years... Yea bro..wanna spend so much 1 shot is kinda painful for such a small car..actually its still cheaper... last time i got it for around 3xx inclusive install 1.5k (with installation) is close to 10% of the car selling price.. If 2-3years also cantik already? Unless driver is a reckless driver then surely will wear off faster |

Hello all,
been reading these 2 threads alot with great interest. My Kelisa 2002 (1st gen right?) now running very poor fc. about rm20 for 90km only !!! i checked with my foreman and he recently serviced my Kelisa with normal rm50 engine oil. throttle body and card cleaned. nStill the fc got a bit worse now .... rm20 for 80km !!! Can some friends here let me know your fc for 2001/3 Kelisa? My Driving behaviour: For evert rm20 petrol Shell, about 40 minutes idling waiting for maid at pasar pagi (2 x 20 minutes for 2 sundays). 100% town and housing area driving with speed < 70kmp. Impatient driving. 14" light SSR rim (i think its Taiwan made). Major service in April with all belts, air-con systems changed to new. Please advise what shd I do? ecu resetting? change engine oil again to 10w40 Helix/Shell? thanks alot. This post has been edited by mikehwy: Aug 9 2013, 11:13 PM |

idling consumes a lot of fuel. that is the worst to do. not to mention the danger if there is exhaust gas leaked into your car. u could be slowly render unconscious and might even resulted in death.

Changing engine oil - but some forumers suggested 10w40 for semi/full syn. i just wonder which one. some said 10w30 is heavy. 2. Reset ecu - do you mean unplug the negative for 10-15 minutes, start engne and let it idle for 15-30 minutes, then drive with my own style? safe or not as my car is quite powerful at the moment. ?? how? please advise me. 3. I also added the power booster bought from a forumer here .... Please can you kindly pm me your 'stuff'? thanks alot in advance. fc is high now. rm20 goes for 85km town driving . ... TQ TQ TQ bro. |

just ask perodua sc for full overhaul..so cheap at about rm1.3k..outside shop about rm1.3k also but just doing overhaul changing piston ring..that is if main bearing is okay means no change..if got problem the cost will be higher..but perodua price including all the labour, main bearing, whatever bearing inside, radiator servicing, all the rubber2,radiator hose, head gasket, gearbox oil,etc2 only at rm1.3k..and of course original parts..the only downside is have to take leave since they only work on weekdays..

not as good as adjustable
but much better than stock and proride lowered spring in handling yet it remain the "comfort" from stock setup absorber bought from maddriver but had it revalve and reoil to suit the dampening rate |

Guys can you help me out here. At above 70kmh when I accelerate further my car start to vibrate and shake. Any idea? I talked to the foremen, he say could be balancing which I already did but still like that. Could it be the spark plug?
Usually I am quite oblivious of my car but this is really something I can feel so must be serious. Also at certain speed I can hear squeaking not sure if it is related. I know the symptom is kinda vague but appreciate an help thabks |

If it is leaking behind the filter, then it is the filter bracket punya o ring..there is one filter behind the oil filter bracket..if on top, either your cover seal is worn out, or there is one plug that is located on top left side of your engine..this one got sell at p2 sc rm60 if im not mistaken..the worse seal is the flywheel oil seal..look underneath your car between engine and gearbox to see it is leaking..what I did past tume was to search the location of the leak myself, then go to workshop and ask them change..if I ask them to check, surely they ask to change unnecessary part..any good workshop to introduce? or any place can find good engine with reasonable price? kelisa is so much fun to drive and i want to maintain it as antique car.. lol |

Then the chemicals are drained, just like the oil would be for an oil change. As a matter of fact, an engine flush is often performed after the old oil is taken out and before the new, clean oil is poured in. |

QUOTE(yorkhan @ Dec 26 2013, 09:46 PM) actually no, because i have changed the suspension system (spring and absorber) to taller type. this greatly reduces the 'diving' feeling when i step on the brakes. the car is very stable during braking, and no more diving at the front as the pring is a taller set. This post has been edited by mikehwy: Dec 27 2013, 11:30 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

For those who never used Mtech 10/40, I'd strongly recommend it. I noticed your FC states Rm10/60km, so full takn of RM60 = 360km at most?
I changed my mounting to rubbered ones 2 yrs back, RM700+ labour for original part since it was leaking. My FC was 370km/full tank. So far I used Mobil, Shell, P2. I'll tell you that Castrol 10/40 is the best. Im using a 2002 second hand Kelisa. Honestly Im a NFS person. I drive really bad, corner oso fast. But...amazingly, full tank I can run 420km. |

But if you are talking bout really ensuring your engine is good, I'd go for 10/40. I've tried 10/30 but the car will just make tonnes of noise after I hit 150kmph. Shell 10/40 - Noticeably good response, but after a while it becomes sluggish. Mobil 10/40 - Same as above but longer duration of it being good before sluggish Castrol Magnatech 10/40 - Engine gives a deeper sound but much more quiet and response is hella good. I will service it at least 1,000km before it expires. The usual changes...oil filter use the normal P2, then change oil with Castrol (3rd time using this good ol chap). Oh....always pump your tyres 10-15% above your normal pressure. It reduces your FC by 5-10%. Other than that I do the usual...pedal to the metal shiet thingy...but still goood fc. Hitting 400km/full tank on average. My car is all stockies too. |

hi...need some advice on my 2007 Kelisa Auto :
i feel that d car's engine is a bit "berat" whenever in need to accelarate..it doesnt have d pick up like it used too.. and lately when reaching speed 140 (not all d time..just when feeling kiasu) i smell somehting burning..but i'm pretty sure its not the smell of brakes..only when speeding at that speed..i thought it was because of my 4 months engine oil..but even after I had changed the engine oil, it still feels heavy..i had used castrol 10w-40.. any idea y is this happening? |

QUOTE(s@ni @ Jan 3 2014, 09:55 AM) yea, the labor to unmount alone is 120 d, then the other leaking parts as of now is 300+ btw, is it advisable to replace the suspension parts (2k+ in total) as i've asked them to check and it seems to be time to replace them |

You get better quality products and adjustables are mostly servicable aswell Personally im using Kayaba RS pro and i bought it at rm1300 at Kakimotor.. Inclusive with all other parts it goes up to around RM1700 This post has been edited by PcFreako77: Jan 3 2014, 03:16 PM |

Today went to service my Kelisa (auto, year 2006) at Perodua service centre. The mechanic say there is engine mounting problem and suggest that I changed the engine mountings for RM1300.
The reason he gave is when the car vibrates/shudders when put into reverse gear, it is the sign that the engine mounting needs replacing. What do you guys think? Should I take the mechanic's advice? |

RM1.3K for mounting? A little tad expensive....even if it's original part (full rubber) is about Rm250 - Rm300 a piece x 3 piece mounting. Tell u wat....try Uptown there's a mechanic tht I trust really well and he's really good at his workmanship. Maybe he can quote better price

Flushing is useless..that corrosion is so hard to be removed..u should do radiator cleaning..or just buy the new radiator only cost rm80 cheapest ive found brand new..and use coolant plus battery water..... my foreman refused to use castrol mtech 10-40. i think he plans to use 5/10-30. image shows the dirty radiator inlet ... update later .... Btw, did u ask y ur foreman refuse to do 10/40? actually he cleaned my radiator. tmr will open up and see how clean it is. coolent was added. i have changed the compressor (larger type) and fan 2 months back. yes, the air cin is cold but not as cold as your, but v comfortable.my foreman said 10-40 might spoil the piston ring and it also can put some stress on the piston. i quite agree cos i was the weekend part time unpaid motorcycle mechanics last time (as my hobby). i think i understood what he meant. so he used the 5-30 castrol (rm105). the steering almost immediately feels less vibration and of course the car is more quite too. |

i forgot. for those who are going to replace the battery, use the larger type '60'. only rm10 extra. its larger and stronger n does not stress the alternator or the electrical charging system. it is strong. look at the serial code at the edge of the foto below

So here's what happen. The guy removed the engine coil from the gasket. It was soaked in oil. Valve gasket leaking.
Tested all three coil. No power to them. Tested a spare that he had at the shop. There's power. So tech came to a conclusion that the coil is faulty. Replaced all three coil and the valve cover gasket. Tested all 3 had power. Engine still wouldn't start. Checked relay and EFI all looked alright. Swap relay. Still wouldn't start. Petrol was not coming in. Check the power on the cable of the fuel pump. Said it's alright. Said it could be a problem with the ECU. He was honest to say he hasn't replaced that before and he's not sure of the price, which gave me the opportunity to get someone else to check for me. Called my normal mechanic. Towed the car over to his place. Found out that the cable for the electronic engine control is loose or torn. Fixed it up. Light came up on the dashboard. Tested. Engine starts Total cost: RM8++ |

Hi, wanna ask all Kelisa owners here who have changed their oxygen sensor.
1) how is the oxygen sensor look like? single wire or 4-wire type? bcoz I ask the spare part shop and he showed me 4-wire type and said kelisa/myvi also same can use this. but when i check underhood, looks like single wire type. 2) how much does it cost? thanks |

Just wanna ask, is it possible for the service advisor to pay on my behalf? Cause I just collected my car on Monday and paid for all the repairs. Then on today, the service advisor called me saying that he left out 2 receipts and claimed he paid for me earlier and asked if I can compensate him back. It is just kinda weird considering everything is electronic and should be billed to me automatically.
ps: It is official perodua service center |

Insatlling cabin air filter ...
I have a QUESTION - is the air filter inserted the WRONG way? it is the ONLY way to push in because the 2 nut holes need to be aligned. OR, do i need to invert the WHITE filter inside the bracket ? WHICH WAY for the WHITE filter to go in (i have seen some google images that the front side of the bracket should go in upwards, and not like mine here where the backside went in upwards) ? Please advise me. Thanks This post has been edited by mikehwy: Apr 10 2014, 01:30 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(3antz @ Feb 18 2014, 03:26 PM) coincidentally I'm having the same issue. Are you referring to the one which looks like an Aladdin lamp? The light is flashing when I'm stationary, start engine and when braking. My car is old ... almost 10 years ... sigh After months searching for the O2 sensor but can't find it, I decided to send in the SC instead. Well, done the scan by the scanner and found no error at all!! I was quite surprised it wasn't the O2 sensor who cause the increasing FC and jerking. Well, since I was there and the problem still exist, I asked to clean the throttle body instead. After removed the throttle body, the technician found one of the grounding wire of the engine wire broken!! I mean there are like 4 to 6 of ground wires and only one of them broken. He confirmed that this is the culprit for the problem...reconnect the grounding wire and pop!! problem solved...now i'm getting back my good FC, no more engine light on and jerking.FYI, before fix it, I could only go 250km for RM50 petrol....now I could go up to 400km. So guys, you might wanna send your car to SC first if you have serious problem. I did went to outside foremans...some said O2 sensor, some said relay problem, some even said mounting problem( |

hi,
i wish to introduce a workshop that i have been going for the past few months, had done a significant jobs over there and i must say the costs were very reasonable and lower than most workshops ive been so far the advantages that i have found on this workshop: home operated - very flexible timing, night also can send and pickup, and also the reason for the fairly low price overall, no rental to be worried about the place is well equipped with necessary tools despite doing at home he does mainly perodua cars namely kelisa and kancil, so the guy has vast experience. he does all from normal maintenance, engine swap to spot welding call him for appointment, raymee 012 314 1846 location is in kampung laksamana, batu caves, selangor. call him for exact location try out his service, hope this benefits |

NO NEED to take off the glove box !!! u just kneel below the glove box, then can see the sealed box. but need a sharp knife to cut open only. make sure buy the filter WITH BRACKET cos first time instal need the bracket. can do all same time ma. my aircon actually is cold, can pakai even in afternoon, as after travelling for fwe minutes the air is QUITE cold (not as cool as proton) and comfortable. we all shd add in this filter. Hi guys... sorry to swerve out of the current topic, but I hope I can get some insights/advices/solutions on what could have caused my Kelisa's increasing problematic ride and handling:
About a week ago my car skidded and hit a road divider. It was raining and I was driving across a hill road in Penang (Relau hill to be exact if anyone of you is from Penang). While negotiating a rather tight corner (I was driving quite slow, around 30 to 40kmh as I know the road is wet), my car lost traction and started steering to the oncoming traffic. I had to hit the brakes cos the corner was leading to a downhill path and god knows what will happen if I don't brake. The crash broke my car's left lower arm (screwed my left fender as well), so I got it replaced. My mech said that my car could have faced hydroplaning due to water or grease on the road, but as the one experiencing the crash I know that it is not merely these factors that caused the skidding. I have actually got both of my car's front lower arms, front arm bushings and front stabilizer bushings replaced 2 weeks ago. Alignment was done too. So supposedly the car should had handled better than before as these components were really worn off. In fact, during non-raining seasons, my car handles rather okay. My front shocks are standard Kayabas and 3 years old, and I'm running on 14 inch wheels. While turning there was no creaking sound so I think the problem shouldn't be a worn off driveshaft. Could it be some worn off camber bolts, or steering issues? Do lend some insights on my issue ya, thanks a bunch... |

Replacing all of these parts will cost u less than 800. engine wise its super reliable. get one without oil leakage, it will save u a lot of time and money. |

I change my absorber last year. But only change to stock. Absorber mounting change because the mechanic said it were shaky already. I saw he shake the mounting and it move quite freely. I think the mounting is on condition thing if the old one can still fit nicely no need to change.
Not good with car but i think spring only to change if you need to lower your ride. |

I thinking to use proride perfomance https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2862488/+160 for results, pls read my comments in the same page. it is NOT necessary to change springs and absorbers together, my foreman said. but if the absorber leaks, or the spring has little 'play' (up-down movement space) then better change if you are the fuzzy type like me. lol. proride is ok for normal use, i think. |

I notice there is a plastic knock sounds in between dashboard, but I could not figured it from where. Initially I though it was also due to the mounting but it turned out different issue? Guys, my dad Kelisa has reached 100k km mileage.
Most of the time he just go service centre and change engine oil + oil filter. For preventive measure, I think I better bring it to change some other old parts, need some advice here for the parts to change. Here's my own list: 1. Air Filter 2. Transmission Oil 3. Spark plugs 4. Gasket Drain Plug 5. Radiator Coolant 6. Brake fluid 7. Timing Belt 8. Aircond Belt |

Guess the timing belt is a must then. |

if its like that...: 1. Air Filter =Check urself.. if black change. 2. Transmission Oil change/manual is 40k...auto should be earlier. refer manual for precise. 3. Spark plugs Change/ or check then change. 4. Gasket Drain Plug p2 will change auto when u change oil 5. Radiator Coolant change 6. Brake fluid change+brake bleeding/ask them to replace..else they will just top up. 7. Timing Belt change 8. Aircond Belt change 9. power steering fluid. |

Hello everyone,
I'm a new Kelisa owner here. Purchased 2004 Kelisa 1.0 EZ (Auto), done 133000Km for 15K in April 2014. Now the problem with this vehicle is that the engine is a bit noisy & it is giving fuel average of only 7-8 Km/L in city driving According to the service sticker, oil change was done at 130000Km. What could be the problem here? |

ENEOS Ecotouring 5/30 semi syn. Engine is smooth, pick up is good. 400-450 per full tank. Response will become slightly lower after 2000km. Maybe you need to send your Kelisa for checking. If the engine sound is too loud it could be your RPM. |

QUOTE(yorkhan @ Sep 7 2014, 09:24 PM) time to service the rear drum.. could be sticky Won't know the issue until I get it serviced at 135000Km.spark plugs? way tooo low FC. get a 10/40 oil.. like what the other guy said, first 500km is heavy engine, then will be fine till 5000km... i put in previous 10/40 shell hx5 and catrol 10/40... quite ok so far. last till 7500km. petronas or perodua oil abit thin, after 3000km will thin out making engine louder. I read in another forum that resetting the ECU helps in getting the FC right and improving performance, done by taking the battery plug out for 10-15mins or removing the EFI fuse out. Anyone tried that? |

Now my suspension and axle also giving problem....whole car starts to vibrate at 80km speed, and if it is at 30-40km speed, my car moves left and right....like im in a rocking chairI read in another forum that resetting the ECU helps in getting the FC right and improving performance, done by taking the battery plug out for 10-15mins or removing the EFI fuse out. So if yours is giving a lot of FC, it could improve it =)How was your friend's experience with resetting the ECU? Any improvement in performance? |

QUOTE(asifniz @ Sep 5 2014, 12:29 PM) Thanks for the reply, it is just a lot louder than other Kelisa's that I have heard. Engine noise a lot louder. I live in Shah Alam where there are steep climbs so I was guessing the FC will be around 10-12 but 7-8 is way too low!! o2 sensor was it changed before? if not then this should be the culprit............Not sure what engine oil was used the last time, but I'm planning to get it changed at 135000 instead of 140000 that is mentioned on the service sticker. What engine oil do you use? |

How to check it? should be much lower for kelisa, even auto 9y.o i drove at 90kph for highway 80% should get 6.5L/100km. no matter how, you should get single digits for a kelisa. car heavy ar? Hi all, just had a new issue with my 2004 Kelisa 1.0 (A) Ezi.
This happened twice, both times the car started & ran fine. I went to some place, switch off the car & when I come back it won't start. ECU & engine light show up but the battery light won't show. Both times I get out of the car, close the doors & lock the car using the remote. And then open it up again, switch on & it will start normal as if nothing happened. All light turn up & start in one switch. Battery I guess is fine as it always starts in the morning, it is only after I switch it off at some place & then switch on that it causes the problem. What could be the issue here? |

Dear Sifus,
I got a Kelisa 1.0 manual. From Kelisa's service manual, it stated that manual transmission fluid (gearbox oil) need to change every 20K. While auto transmission fluid is every 40K. I thought manual transmission fluid should last longer than auto, but for Kelisa, it seems to be the opposite. Is it true? Or the manual was printed wrongly, where manual is 40K while auto is 20K? |

hi,newbie here, my Kelisa is the SE model, year 2006.Mileage nearly 300k because i go to Kuantan every week. I got this problem :
1. My alternator, aircond and power steering belt putus while driving. Change all the the belt but snapped again. Then I change the belt and the pulley. Went ok for a while before the alternator belt putus again on Karak Highway while driving. Already change the belt for 4th time, but there's a 'squeaking' noise in the engine. I realize that everytime its squeak, there's a chance that the belt snap again...anyone ever experience this before? 2. Anyone know where can i find reliable mechanic for Kelisa in KL? 3. Is there any affect if i fit Myvi SE tyre and rims on my car? |

1. Maybe 1 of the component bearing is defective. And it hard to be turn alas putting on more stress on the belting. As 1 belting snap it will interfere with other belting resulting in multiple belting snapping.
2. Putting myvi se rim and tyre will make it a bit heavier. You accelerate slower and your top speed will drop. As I'm using myvi se rims for my kelisa I'm not really bothered by it cause I don't drive fast. |

Fuel consumption don't feel much different, maybe because I'm only using it for work. Just around 40 minutes drive everyday drive around 90km/h. RM 30 can give me abouy a week drive. Never try on a long distance since change the rims.

My engine oil leaking. Just changed the gasket n found the 3 plugs filled with oil. Cleaned up the parts, and also changed the top cover. Very greasy and engine oil was everywhere inside the plug holes.
Will post the pics soon. This post has been edited by mikehwy: Nov 20 2014, 04:45 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Then i spent 1 hr to use my own engine oil degreaser to tembak at every oil stains around and under the engine also i went under the car to spray then clean. Then use soap to hard clean all oily areas.Hahaha, no more oil stains in my house. Strangely, i got aroumd 10km per rm30 petrol buy still need to test again. Will post the new engine soon. Hu huh |

It feels clean. Really |

bro megat.
from the receipt, i think you have only SERVICED the head cover (NOT changed it?), cylinder, + only CHANGED plug tube? the receipt did not show the price for top cover? it is relatively cheap! mine was much higher. only the engine top cover already rm190! did not change the plug tube as they were only oily from the leakage inside. And why do u need to bore a bigger hole? Unless if your engine block is already damaged. |

Hello Happy New Year to all !
I got a problem and wish to ask for advice : - Few months back, I used a type of windows rubber lining 'spray' on all the 4 door windows rubber lining last time, as i wish to grease and soften the harden rubber lining of my Kelisa and BLM. Few months later i still cant remove the stains on all the windows as there are marks all over the 4 windows. These look like small dots and human tears all over the 4 windows. Anyone kena this experience before? Please advise. i now would like to try to use the 'watermark remover' hoping to remove these stains. How? |

My kelisa serpentine belt is started to deteriorate and broke just now
I dunno what happen just now, suddenly I heard a noise coming from the engine without warning, when i stop the car to check, it was a semi-broken belt. 2 of the belt drive was affected, water pump and power steering. How much is the cost to replace it? Another question is, kelisa camshaft pulley belt/drive chain is separated from the accessories drive belt right? Just incase if 2moro i drive to workshop in the middle of the road and the belt totally snap wont cause a catastrophic engine failure right? ![]() |

Curious what can go wrong with cam cover. If leak oil then normally not change only the black rubber cam cover gasket? For those driving auto, do you guys change gearbox oil and it's gearbox filter? The vibration that u guys talk about, does it happen when in "D" in your gear and you brake? If put to neutral, does it vibrate lesser compare to "D"? QUOTE(mikehwy @ Jan 3 2015, 04:09 PM) Hello Happy New Year to all ! Try to go some hardware shop and buy electrical contact cleaner or similar in spray can, use that to clean the chemical affected area. The cleaner is some sort of oil soluble cleaner which cleans off oil and chemical contaminant. Hope it helps your problem.I got a problem and wish to ask for advice : - Few months back, I used a type of windows rubber lining 'spray' on all the 4 door windows rubber lining last time, as i wish to grease and soften the harden rubber lining of my Kelisa and BLM. Few months later i still cant remove the stains on all the windows as there are marks all over the 4 windows. These look like small dots and human tears all over the 4 windows. Anyone kena this experience before? Please advise. i now would like to try to use the 'watermark remover' hoping to remove these stains. How? |

Total damage rubber+regulator+labour is exactly rm200. To me still acceptable as now my driver side window now up/down no more jerking already. Ps: rubber very cheap only |

QUOTE(lucankong82 @ Jan 10 2015, 09:00 PM) Boon, how's your car? The belt you show basically are for water pump, power steering, alternator(not shown) and air cond(not shown in your picture.) Hi kong, that day when I was on the way to workshop, power steering pump belt broke off, no more power steering. My mechanic replaced all the belt on the engine, except the timing belt (Cam belt). The mechanic say all of my belt failed at the same time could be caused by the leaking valve cover gasket, but i dunno that the case or not because even though my 12 year old kelisa only has 40000 km on it but never been replaced before, could be too old and started to worn out already. Mike or those recently changed cam(head) cover, any particular reason for you guys to change it? Curious what can go wrong with cam cover. If leak oil then normally not change only the black rubber cam cover gasket? For those driving auto, do you guys change gearbox oil and it's gearbox filter? The vibration that u guys talk about, does it happen when in "D" in your gear and you brake? If put to neutral, does it vibrate lesser compare to "D"? He say the oil could make the rubber in the belt slowly expand then deteriorate (the shiny spot on the water pump are oil), so he do a valve cover and gasket replacement for me. ![]() On my kelisa also has the vibration when in D and R, when R the vibration is more worst. My engine mount already worn out, that what causing all the vibrations, need replacement soon. Btw, what do u guys think of my engine? Considered dirty? ![]() |

Yup, I think it's because of your belt rubber deteriorate due to "old" age also. Better check also your timing belt if that's the case. Don't play play with timing belt. This one snap, you need to replace more than just timing belt. Same like car tyre, even if got thread after using 3-4years, you look closely, there's fine hairline crack. Better change when you have time rather than have it changed by highway plus patrol cars at highway! They replace the cover also because he say my spark plug rubber boot is leaking also. He told me whole unit must go because the spark plug boot is unremovable due to it is riveted into the valve cover. But I have doubt in that . I never flush my gearbox oil before. So far my gearbox still shifting smoothly. I am quite sure my engine mount is worn out already, because when shifting into gear, the engine will move and shake. |

QUOTE(mikehwy @ Dec 8 2014, 12:04 PM) change the spring also la? maybe the srping got soft ady and go senget when you swirl your kelisa? The rust is because the exhaust pipe is not stainless steel, it will continue to rust and rot. Revving it will not make it solve it.My new exhaust tail end got a little bit of rust. Went back to the shop and the boss says my engine is 'good' and so got some vapor in the morning and this causes light rust at the tail ring edge. He says many town driving cars also got the same issue one, unless i rev for a long distance then 'maybe' the rust is gone. true or not bros .. ? I got the same problem too. The original pipe on my has rotten so much until the exhaust hook section. So I go for a replacement at one of those 'exhaust specialist'. The foreman told me he's replacing with a stainless steel pipe, won't rust. Charged me RM180. After 3 months, I saw some rust just like yours. Went back to the specialist, he told me my engine still good, still producing some water vapor in exhaust, and the little rust is normal. I was mad as I know (at least to my knowledge!) that stainless steel won't rust. I argued with him, then he just grind off the rust and spray some silver paint over it. I know it won't work and don't want to argue with him any further. About few days later, the silver paint peel of and revealing some new patch of rust. Bottom line is, I got cheated. As he told me it was stainless steel, turns out it is not. Next time just go chop shop to look for Kelisa exhaust pipe. As I see it, certain batch of Kelisa comes with good pipe that won't rust. Other unlucky one like mine, will rust. |

Story time.
Last week my friend brought me to Cameron Highland in his Waja. We went through the Tapah - Cameron route and it was amazing. It ignited an idea that I have buried long time ago, to have a driver's car. So with my 2004 Kelisa 1.0 manual, it will certainly be fun on these winding mountain roads. But it lacks power. So now a K3-VE engine upgrade from Daihatsu Storia came to my mind, and I would like to know if any owner here have done it. How much is your engine transplant cost? Cost of suspension and brake upgrade? JPJ approved the car after mod? How's the reliability after the mod? The K3-VE vibrate more than the stock EJ-DE? Or much refine than the stock engine? I found a garage that specialized in the transplant, very tempting... http://yrv.weebly.com/ |

Hehe... I've done around 600+KM with around 30+L of fuel, not even full tank! Best records is around 4.6L/100KM
How I achieved it with Kelisa manual 1.0: 1. Tyre properly inflated. 2. Throw unneccessary weight off the car. 3. Air cond at the least cold setting. 4. 60% Highway (Federal highway) + 40% small road. 5. Highway running around 80 to 90KM/h. 6. Shift early around 2100RPM, in fifth gear around 60KM/h. 7. Gentle acceleration. 8. Defensive driving, non aggressive. 9. Decelerate to stop when notice red light afar. |

Thanks for the info lonewolf.
Now with the K3-VE from Storia, when you need to replace the engine mounting, can you use back the one for Myvi? |

Otherwise, I dont see the point cuz once you full overhaul its good enough. When your FC is becoming higher and your engine is slow in response. Revv your engine and see. If its white very visible smoke then do minor overhaul. If its black, do a full overhaul. Usually applies to 100,000km or 10 yrs car. Alarm lost do new one about RM60-80. Compressor RM250 around there. Get original one...don't turn your air cond temperature to full. I use mine at minimum and its cold as shiet still |
