Resak-Beranang from what I know had the Mercury issue. Other than that, could be the facilities build was a bit on the "too big" size.

the gas composition always flucutated, so its difficult for us to predict the right composition and design future facilities. because of this, client keep changing the design. resak also produce more water rather than gas. this info provided by client.

my friend has join this program. this program is held by government under [oh gosh.! i forgot the name.!] . u got allowance about rm500 permonth from goverment during the program & + extra rm500 from company u attach.

but depends to ur luck.! my friend until now didnt get placement at o&g company. in their batch, from 21 participant, 5 didnt get placement, 7 got job with their effort [i mean they apply by themselves and pass the interview], 5 at biotech company, and the rest was place at o&g company.

in my opinion, this program is failed & now they still want to continue it, for third batch. they cant really place u at o&g company, they just want to make u dreaming all the way.

but, u can try ur luck there.! u never know ur future. biggrin.gif

Hi sifus of OnG industry, i have a cliche' question, i graduated from E & E background 2 years ago, but have been wanting to join OnG industry. What sort of position can/should i try for? i don't mind joining as a trainee. Any good companies? Also, just curios, how much does fresh grad typically earns in OnG industry? Thanks.

You may try luck in oil & gas automation/instrumentation field like DCS, transmitters, control valve.
Fresh grad may get around 3k + salary (7 years ago).
Now simply can get more than 5k SG dollar with experience in some Singapore company.

The reality, this scheme only want budget from government.. once got the budget they have income and generate money. How about the course? it is meet the oil n gas qualification in the world or it is standard AWS, CSWIP, API, etc? some of the course sorry to say not even meet the standard...just simply talk as longas they have money

really hate some of the company they take advantages since we have lot of people esp young engineer or beginners demand to join oil and gas and they conduct unnecessary training, seminar, course or anything else.

Nowadays whoever want to join need to do some study about the course & training, not simply take it because not possible you might enter oil and gas field.

Agree.

The freshies now think that they need a cabinet of paper qualifications.

The best is to join the site and dirty the hands.

It's not so easy to get into O&G without the right knowledge and qualifications. Even those trainee positions have like a few thousand applicants each sweat.gif

Hi,

I applied to this program back in July during a career fair at KLCC. I was invited to an interview about 1 month after that.
The interviewer was a malay(HR) and white guy(Technical). I was asked about heat exchanger, pump, material, yield and ultimate strength, and also those basic question 'tell me about your self'. Mostly were technical question. A week from that they called me again asking me to go for 2nd interview.

There were 3 people in the 2nd interview, 2 operation manager and the HR guy from the 1st interview. In the 2nd interview they asked me a lot on my internship.
Nothing technical. Just like a chit chat session.

And last Monday they called me again said that I got selected. This intake is the 1st batch. Yeap, this is the 1st time they conduct this trainee program.
Hope this help smile.gif

Need advice. What companies to look for and what path should I take to if I want to join as entry level? I have degree in electrical engineering majoring in power (so-so results only). Spent the last three years doing business development for an IT solutions company. Don't mind small players, just want to go back to basics.

Already 28, turning 29 soon. Or is it too late? Thanks icon_rolleyes.gif
