brazil is worthy winner. nobody should doubt that. really put spain on their back foot nearly the entire game. neymar and fred carving pique and ramos apart at will. hulk raping jordi alba apart and paulinho mastering the midfield like nobody's business.

oh by the way, casillas just proved why mourinho put him on the bench last season and opted for diego lopez. at least 2 of the 3 goals is saveable.

agree on the need to offload 1 striker if we plan to add another one. if we buy cavani, then better sell off torres while he still have value (face value and last season 20+ goals). if we dont want to sell him, we can only buy cavani if lukaku agrees to stay on loan at west brom. he is doing great there.

too much competition is not good. players will become delusional.

between mikel and essien? i will chose mikel in a heartbeat.

reason? i am not a risk taker especially in the case of the injury-prone essien. although mikel is ultra-defensive, i think he still got some strategic usage. might be good to have him at the bench (or for rotation) rather than someone at the treatment table.

we going to see a lot of ESSIEN rather than MIKEL, because he is one of JM favourite utility man, he is getting a lot game time even during on loan at RM as right back.
*
i think that is on completely different perspective. i am seeing essien as a competitor for the DM place while your justification is based on him playing as utility player. but still, will he play if he is injured? i am not underlying his ability to play well. my opinion is purely on my tendency not to take risk in keeping an injury-prone player at the expense of a reliable (and not a favourite) player.

still, i would be really glad if both of them stayed as they provide depth for the team.

tactically, i think rooney is a better purchased compared to higuain. he is more versatile and hardworking than higuain.

plus i don't think rooney will cost us as much as higuain.

furthermore, if we bought higuain, lukaku's chance to play will be affected because they are vying for the same exact spot (did not include ba because i think he understand he is only a squad player).

my gut feeling is strong on the option of gambling with lukaku next season and make our move during the january transfer window. at the moment, PSG and Monaco is on spending free which I think will inflate some of our target's value. if we do add rooney, then we are better off without ba.

yep.. their midfield look disjointed and RVP 1st goal went against the game direction. clinical finish i would say because there is still a lot to be done when he received the ball, let alone after his 1st touch (that send the ball upward).

i am so wishing we can get a striker of that caliber as well. even with a half-baked midfield players, you still got big chance to win the game when the person up front is very reliable.

i think both manager play it safe last night, especially mourinho. 1 point from OT can be consider good already in the long run.

last night was a good place to try the false 9 formation (although it doe not looking good) because when we test it against a good team like man utd then only we can know what need to improve it later on. i am quite happy on how we manage to shut van persie to very very limited chance in the 2nd half.

and for some reason, my tribute will go to ramires. last few season i am not a big fan of him. reason being he doesn't play with his head. and when mourinho came, he gave ramires a position that doesn't require him to use his brain either. win the ball! be the bad boy in the midfield! and of course, limit your creativity. no more stray passes from him. simple and short passes to lampard or back to the defenders. i love him!

so, we played 3 games this season with different player as striker. hope lukaku can get his chance this coming matches. defenders is pretty solid already. midfielder with so many options. my concern in midfield in just all are pretty small and look fragile.

for me, judging from the last 3 games, i wish rooney can join us, without us loosing anybody in the process. rooney is now at his peak. but he is now second fiddle to van persie and thus can't show his real qualities. the thing that make mourinho want him is hardwork. he is definitely more hardworking than torres and is capable to do wonderful job upfront. if he came, then ba and mosses should go elsewhere.

and there we go again.. at chelsea, reputation (and past history) wins you the starting eleven. i really hope this will not back fire us in the long run. lukaku might be thinking what is wrong with chelsea's logic.. he scored more that torres and ba did last season and was loaned out again.

you can't win the league with a below par strikers. pray hard eto'o can score a lot of goal for us to achieve that.

QUOTE(briantwj @ Sep 3 2013, 10:01 AM)
To be honest, Lukaku loaned to Everton is a good move. Eto, Torres and Ba. There is too much experience and quality in these strikers. It will be very hard for Lukaku to break in.

I think Ba wanted to stay. That is why the club chose to loan Lukaku instead. Ba wanted to stay and prove himself. Maybe the club feels that Lukaku will understands the situation and is easier to persuade to go out on loan.

Jelavic now shooting blanks. If Lukaku scores 2 goals in a row, I'm sure Martinez will put him in the starting 11.

Just hope that Lukaku understands the situation. Chelsea wants him, but with 3 top strikers already, it will be very hard for him to get playing time. Hope Lukaku understand we are just loaning him out for experience and playing time. Hope he doesn't feel he is not wanted. Chelsea see him as a future player, that's why we just LOAN him out. Hope he doesn't do a Sturridge and hands in a transfer request next season.
*
agree on experience but are you sure about quality?

how is quality being measured for a striker? just a food for thought.

2nd, with the amount of exposure hour torres and ba got last season, it is logical they will have (or should have) a lot more goals than lukaku. what if lukaku is also given the same amount of chance to shine?

torres look good in past few matches but as posted before, how optimistic we should be after all these years? hopefully optimistic will win us all the cups..

With this kind of gameplay, the decision to loan out lukaku is becoming more absurd.. the problem is no more about the supplies. Its the finishing that is sorely missing..

Haha torres.. that is the experience that we are looking for.. not putting all the blame on him but that sums up the match.
