1. You'll need to install Sony DVD Architect 3 and (maybe) run it once. Why? Because it comes with the mpeg plugin, which means you don't have to go thru the hassle of method #2. This method is recommended.
2. Put anything on the timeline, and render as mpeg-2. It'll pop up asking you to register/purchase the mpeg plugin, in which case, go and acquire it yourself.
By doing either method, your VOBs should be readable by Vegas. If you have any queries, feel free to ask.
btw, don't ask me about getting mpeg2 in Premiere. I only use Premiere for capture and edit in Vegas.
