What kind of project man?
Sounds interesting. NFC really has a lot of potential and tremendous room for growth.  thumbup.gif

Its for university student to take their attendance by just taping their smartphones with nfc or using nfc tag. will go further for student identification in examination hall. make it easier for the lecture to check rather than looking at id and stuff..

hmm maybe not very practical also, use student card also can nowadays.

can list out university in malaysia that use card for attendance? need to check it out. NFC technology is widely used in developed country, but malaysia still not being exposed to this technology. anyway, just wanna ask, is it easier getting student card from wallet than getting ur phone in pocket?

you can touch through the wallet... over at Monash we have been using it for some time to unlock doors etc but not for attendance yet though
*
yea, thats using RFID. This tapping technology mostly used for security. its not common to have things like taping card/phone for attendance, thus im trying to expose universities to actually try this. reduce time for lecture to update data on server, reduce paper being used to sign attendance (my university) and exposing nfc technology. choose to use nfc because it can be use for much higher application due to its 2 way communication. happy.gif even when final examination, the lecture need to compare our id with out exam slip and our face sleep.gif..would be better if the lecture can just tap their phone on our id/tags and all those data automatically checked..

enough talking about my project in HTC One forum tongue.gif really off topic..

that can be double standard, so the university will require/force students to have NFC enabled smartphone? or they will give it for free?? always the cheaper solution is using name cards
*
nfc tags can also be used in replace for their smartphone..said it in earlier post i think. just that those who have smartphone have the option not to use tags.

As far as I know, the NFC chip in smartphones are NOT writable.  They are SCAN ONLY, and can only read what's on other NFC chip.
*
You dont need to write on the smartphones NFC chip, just create an android apps for the student to store their information and use NFC to send their information when tap with the lecture's phone..

QUOTE(un_id @ Jun 26 2013, 11:30 PM)
really, this is not practical unless NFC enabled smartphone is as cheap as the basic phones ranges from RM200-500, means affordable for all.
*
you dont get my point here. any student who dont have a NFC enabled smartphone, can use NFC tags to store their information. something like a keychain. but for those who have a NFC enabled smartphone, can install apps I created to store their information on their phone..
edit: if you still say its not practical due to price of smartphone, read something about nfc tags and how to use them..

But the price is superbly different between the ones that is in the retail shop and the ones that is selling off Lowyat? (SevenMobile)

I'm kinda over the fence about where to buy the phone from.=.=
*
bought from 1 gadget last sunday, open a good box where the phone has no issue, bring my own screen protector and they help me install it. Price RM 2048 for 32 GB. no reason for me to buy from retail HTC store as the warranty is still under brightstar/sis, not directly under HTC.

waaa.im really contemplating between HTC one and iphone5 rite now..gonna buy one of them this weekend..
One looks really nice but ive use HTC Evo 3d before, sked not alot of difference..iphone5 will bring new experience for me..need help!!!
*
wait for 5s if you want to compare iPhone with HTC..iPhone 5 16 GB price is almost the same as HTC One 32 GB and HTC One outrun most of the iPhone feature. If you need a phone now, get HTC One, will last you longer before you decide to get a new phone.

ah ya somehow true.
so practically what to check before get out from the shop:

gap
dead pixel
camera

anything else?
*
Before you open a box, look for one with newer batch manufactured. this can be done by looking at their S/N.

first 5 digit show the manufacture location and date.

like the one I bought last sunday. first 5 digit for S/N is HT35M.

HT = factory from taiwan i think.
3 = year 2013
5 = may
M = 22nd if im not wrong.

this batch is quite perfect.

then do this.

Go to Phone then type *#*#3424#*#* to enter a HTC Function Test. ( Upon Enter Click Accept )
Make sure test everything ok only buy especially for the ones who want to buy second hand phone.

then test all the things they said. most shop doesnt allow change for gap issue.

Just wondering if i buy the phone from the 2 recommended seller on front page will they allow u to unbox the phone and check for gap and other defect?
*
You can check for hardware defect other than gap..change to new due to gap is not acceptable since too many phone have gap. Just try not to be too perfectionist. as long as the gap is not that visible and the phone working perfectly, should be a good phone already.

haha, sure it is but not currently possible. full aluminium body will cause low signals or no signals pass through..6k battery capacity and pureview on 5 inch phone, probably cause it to be fat..and dual boot..require a cpu architecture that can handle both OS.. tongue.gif would be a dream come through if it is possible now.. in future probably..
