No doubt the colour was nice but the weathering look somewhat unrealistic IMHO. sweat.gif

Hi guys. I'm new to this thread. BTW, I got myself a MG Aile Strike Gundam RM. And I'm gonna start building it soon. However, I need some master to teach me.

I have a simple question, what's the best sandpaper for me to remove nub marks ?

I checked Google already, some says use 400 > 600 > 800 > 1000.

Is the statement above correct?

I LOLed hard when I saw this! Why you get MG Aile Strike RM? doh.gif There is one HG Aile Strike Remastered version, why don't you get that? It was far more better than this, better proportion, better look, better details, better articulation and most important it was cheap!!! Oh God why???? Maybe you are new here so you don't know much... sad.gif

Why you want to sand it? Doing that will hurt your gunpla, it feel pain too, that's cruel... sad.gif
But if you really want, you could try 200->400->1200->3000. Don't hesitate to apply lot of force when doing with 200 and 400 then gently with 1200 and 3000. After that apply topcoat and then sand all over again for total 3 rounds, it will look very smooth and shiny after finish!

You mean me? Yes you are missing something. I think my sanding tutorial should have more attention than HG rm strike. tongue.gif

Haha SEED fans here... but not feeling offended. tongue.gif Although it was not really good, but I've watched it for so many times. It was just because I like Athrun Zala when I was young, and I enjoy the moment when Kira and Shin get beaten badly especially the emo crybaby. Hahaha...

Not trying to promote here but I would say they are quite friendly, and will help you find the things you want, clear your modeling doubts and so on... Selling gunpla just their part time I guess, so that they will help other modelers. I've saw some of their works, they are quite skillful modelers so they could recommend the correct tools for your need.

Maybe their price not really cheap compare to some LYN sellers but still within acceptable price range. If they do stock clearance, you will get cheap limited kit, just like LT warehouse sales. And IINM they are official bandai gunpla distributor, I think I saw it last time on gundam.info but forgot which event, maybe the lucky draw. So they are trust able and recommended seller and obviously a good choice for those live in Johor, last time they also do COD at Ipoh, now not sure. thumbup.gif

well from my experience, online-wise, since i'm not at JB so i have only attempted to contact them via FB, they sound like they're not very interested in doing business.. their replies are half-hearted and i don't see the friendliness you mentioned

granted that was my one and only experience contacting them, have never bought anything from them though
*
Maybe you get wrong timing which they are busy. As I said, they do part time only so they are not really into business but now they have open a shop so that they should be more serious now. And I could guarantee that they are replying fast in their FB group, maybe you should join their FB group instead of asking on their FB page. They have 2 admin, one you seldom see him which is the main boss I guess and he is the one will reply on FB page, whereas another partner is quite active on FB group. And originally they do online business only. If you want buy model kit, I would recommend LYN sellers but if you want modelling tools or paints you can find them because they have more choices than here.

I'm a newbie, im kinda confuse with the marker

Let say I got a MG RX-79-2 1/100

I need a marker to cover those sprue mark. I notice there is Gundam marker set, gundam 00 marker set, gundam Ace marker set and gundam seed marker set, I mainly aim for the yellow, blue and red, are there any difference between those sets???
*
As I know Gundam Real Touch markers could help you. I'm not able to answer further question regarding marker pens, please google it.

QUOTE(Edison83 @ Jun 25 2013, 02:12 PM)
great info there

when you guys do panel lining right, do you guys also draw the inner panel wall? or is it forbidden to do so?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

pardon the drawing
*
There is no right or wrong as HxiiiK said. Gunpla just a hobby, everyone have their own preference, some like to do panel line, some don't even care. Thick or thin, grey or black or other colours also your preference.
And nothing is forbidden just only have proper way or steps to achieve what you want or proper methods and directions to use a tools, materials and so on... I can only say just do whatever you want, you like, it is just a hobby after all, build it with your creativity and make it become a piece of art and of course enjoy it. Well just me 2 cents worth of advice. smile.gif

do the real touch marker can hide the nub marks? cause i just bought grey gundam marker tu do that and the result is, the colur doesnt match (i want to hide the marks on the grey parts mainly inner frame, weapons etc)
*
As I mentioned before, I couldn't answer much because I don't use marker to cover nub marks.
But I know every markers can hide nub mark as long as you pick the correct color. Maybe you can't get the best result but as long as it close to the original then it done the job.
If you expect to cover up all, paint your kit is the best solution. Or master cutting and sanding skill so you won't leave nub marks there. smile.gif
I'm able to clean my kit without leaving any nub marks as long as it didn't become white when I cut them from gates. Take your time and practice your sanding skil. Bear in mind that Rome wasn't built in one day. If you want good result, don't rush to complete it. I never complete a kit in one day time, simple SD also took me 2 days and my efforts are not wasted.
Good luck in mastering proper sanding skill. wink.gif

but how to cover up nub marks on TITANIUM FINISH? brows.gif
*
LOL remind me of my nightmare. When the time I just step into gunpla world, I bought Akatsuki from GA. And shop assistant recommend me to cover with Tamiya Gold Leaf X-12, of course I'm not satisfy with it.

If you ask me how to cover up those plated surface, I honestly tell you that I have no idea beside repaint whole kit. But I just slowly trim off the nubs with sharp hobby knife, didn't do any sanding on plated kit because it will make it become more ugly... Maybe cover the marks with paint that close to the original color.
So far I only have 1 Akatsuki and 1 MG Exia Ignition Mode, I've repaint whole Akatsuki and didn't use any Chrome plated part of Exia because I changed it into Repair mode.

reasonable, but unreasonable when i propose the gates can stay at the same position, just parts molded a little lower, so that the gate is at the bottom of the part
*
That one need ask Bandai, I don't know anything about it. But IINM, not only Bandai product like this right... So far I not yet see any model kits have their connections at bottom part. Maybe you see before, but I'm not. smile.gif

QUOTE(HxiiiK @ Jun 26 2013, 05:42 PM)
there are.. some of bandai's exclusive kits (at least i think it was bandai) that are extra finish have the parts molded undergate, meaning the part, after cutting out, the nub marks are at the seam lines where u join the 2 parts, so they are covered up when u put 2 parts together.. undergate is better, but of course, more expensive since u mold that little bit more plastic to hold the part up
*
Great they make this but as you said it was expensive and should be Bandai's exclusive kit. So it was quite hard for me to obtain such a kit, maybe future I will get one extra finishing kit with under gate technology and see how good it is. smile.gif

yeap, ABS brows.gif its a bit more rubbery than normal plastic, typically used for inner frames since people don't usually paint them, and i believe it's lighter
*
I see, really don't like it on my Sinanju, it keep droping off when I move the skirts... Probably will throw the side pipes and customize that area. brows.gif

Btw, I'm no Aznable fan but that kit looks sick.

Heck, I've never even watched a single gundam episode before.

You mean the kit look 'positively' sick, which means awesome?
Maybe not so good to discuss here, so open the spoiler to see the rest.
