Guys, can you roughly tell me, especially those who are i driving the 1.6 and mainly in town drive, how much does a full tank bring you.. i'm kinda caught in between the KX and the full spec city to be honest.. both have their pros and cons...but i think if i were to say looks and comfort, the KX is a better car but safety wise, minimum would be the K3...so I'm looking at the final verdict which is on how thirsty the 1.6 lump is.. coz i know the 2.0 drinks (speaking from the experience of a forte owner).. anyone care to shed some light?

i did read through the pages and if i'm not wrong, some of you guys are clocking around 350-370km per full tank? My drive would be mainly in penang island and sometimes a mix of long distance driving.

Yes, 350-370km is about right for 100% city driving. If really driven smoothly and light footed..and maybe not much traffic jam on that particular week u might get  400-420km..  that's my K3 did.

I'm from Penang too!  tongue.gif

hi khan! thanks for the headsup. Really a tough choice... coz i really don't like the shape of the city on the outside...at all! interior only the high spec is okay for me...for kx even the most basic spec still looks nicer den the low spec city... gotta think really hard yawn.gif

thanks for the info though~ biggrin.gif

After reading on people posting in Kia Malaysia, I see a lot of complain on spare part hard to get and long waiting time or expensive, is it true?
*
it depends actually what parts we are talking about..usually the parts involved doesn't cause th ebreakdown to be as bad to the extent its undrivable..but i have had the brake switch replacement wait for a few weeks...the longest so far was i think the steering rack assembly claim..that one took a month or so...but nothing as absurd as 3-4 months..

I would say go for the Cerato KX. The City is capable but a 'kosong' car compared to the KX. Don't worry so much about the fuel consumption. Korean cars may consume a little more because they are heavier but you get more safety in a stronger body. If you can buy the car you can afford the small difference in petrol if at all.

If you browse back there is one owner who compared her Cerato 1.6 with City and the Cerato came out favourably. It needs some patience to browse back but the graphic in that post is easy to spot.

thanks bro, i did consider changing cars a few years back but after i did a test drive with the cx5 and altis, i decided to stick back to the forte coz they feel almost the same and those are priced much higher... i think there are way too many pages for this thread hence it may be difficult to scroll lol...but i will try.. thanks bro =)

Hi keagan, just wondering why did you change the steering rack assembly? Was it because of noise?
*
yeah bro, the 2.0 sx forte was prone to having such issues back then. smile.gif

Ahh icic..is it like a rattling noise of sorts when you go on certain roads? I sent mine in as well and they say this requires a redesigned part from KIA HQ...
*
Yeah but it came back again after some time.. Hahaha and I think it's slightly worse this time.

Get K3 and you will not regret it.
Take a look at K3 after a year and you won't feel bored of the look.

The back lights are so sexy smile.gif

Btw, you are about right on the full tank mileage for pg island .... 350 - 380km for city drive.

K3 is no doubt a looker but a bit off my budget bro.. The most is kx only hahaha.. Thanks for the affirmation on the mileage too smile.gif

Well, hope you make a good choice. For 1.6, you do city drive really kills fuel esp on jams and traffic light. Key to FC is step smooth and try to maintain speed, brake less and if possible stop less. This car is quite heavy till if u drive a 1.6, u don't get any pickup power on starting from a stop, instead, u have to wait for the speed to increase to gain momentum.

Kx Vs city high spec, tough choice, but think for more future and you will make a good choice without regrets. Anyway i been seeing lots a Kx around city lately. Even my trip to jonker steet, saw 2 Kx  biggrin.gif

Thanks bro, yes we decided on the KX already but there's no stock at the moment according to my SA, so we will be waiting for the car. I am still deciding between white or golden beat

Agree on the Not for speed but for comfort & space. Guess performance might be almost same a less as since same engine. My car going 110 start notice sounds but still at minimum, mainly is the 17" type that is roaring on the road. Basically until 140 the car start to feel uneasy n of course sound gets loud and u'll definately "feel" you are speeding. (i once sit on my friend's focus and i didn't even notice he is speeding until he tells me it's 150 on his meter shocking.gif ).

I guess diff will definately be the handling of Kx & k3 since with esc k3 is definately more stable in corners and wet roads. Kx just really don't have the "feel" of safety when cornering. The car sways on corners (unless u are below 60km). A car's stability will give you the confidence on how you know you can handle in higher speed, drove a focus and definately the car gave a more confidence and safe feel while i accelerate.

Another thing is the car's power to "start moving" from a stop. Basically all cars will easily overtake you if you are to pickup slowly. That's why the underpower feels on overtaking and from a stop. When in a moving jam, everytime when you start gain momentum, the car infront start to stop. Then you crawl to build the momentum again and stops  sweat.gif

This has been a 'problem' or characteristic of korean marques especially for their current range of nu and gamma engines. Even on the 2.0 i find this lethargic pickup very evident but definitely better then the 1.6 lump

for now, korean car is good for its looking, gadgets, space and comfort not for handling and power. Maybe it will get improved by next few years as ex M-power chief engineer just joining KIA.

I already know this car will be under power before I purchase, but to me the more important thing will be comfort, space, and luxury, safety and gadgets for this price range. I enjoy drive moderately with my family members and they do feel more comfy if I drive gently.

For now, I think the tyre noise is quite loud on certain road even at 80km/h. Probably will do some sound proofing for this.
*
from my experience the sound proofing is lacking mainly at the rear area..for the front not so much...you could try having the tyres changed and it should solve the dreaded droning during high speed driving . this has been a small issue that plagued the forte back when i first got it...but if you are saying this is lacking, you should try honda cars..they are much worse off.. tongue.gif
