QUOTE(Buydirect @ Jun 2 2014, 10:36 AM) Yes, it is possible to change to leather seat with perforated leather in the middle but you cannot upgrade it with aircon ventilation like the 2.0 as that require additional ducting to channel the aircon to the seat. Feel free to PM me for the price to upgrade the leather. Thanks Hmmm... i guess perforated seat wont help much in heat dissipation then. |

QUOTE(Steven_C @ Apr 17 2015, 10:01 PM) Got my Kia Cerato 2.0 last week from Mr Loh KS a.k.a BUYDIRECT. Overall the sales process was smooth one although minor issue pop up but it got resolved before collecting the car. In terms of offer, he is giving a good one not best. Alot of people said best offer but I disagreed. It depends on what you are looking for: values or freebies. If freebies, yes is a good offer if you don't want any headache to look for it later. I have got similar noise too recently. Mine is at the clock assembly, it only make buzzing noise when cruising at low speed on a rough road surface. When press against then it was reduced. Anyway, it might also could be some wiring loosen inside the HU.Like everyone said he patiently explains the features in the car especially the HU unit and the steering wheels functionality. It was very informative at brief but in details you might need find out others own your own later. So far have found 2 issues with sound after 2-3 days of driving:, 1 is the HU unit near emergency signal button have some buzz sound during even and uneven road. When press area with finger the buzz is gone but when release is back. 2. Sunroof also have some vibration sound too. Manage to find out where it is, when press the roof the sound not there but when release sound is there. Anyone have this issue? Appreciate can shared which SC is best to go to get it fixed. Other than that, I'm loving the K3 from each time driving it. Similar problem was encountered by a member in this forum previously, he has got it fixed. I will be addressing this issue be it during my off day or maybe at my next service. Don't mind please share with us your outcome too on what is happening and how it is fixed upon your visit to SC. Thanks bro. |

QUOTE(Chester77 @ Apr 24 2015, 02:57 PM) Hi, guys. I took my car (Kx) for a speed and stability test earlier this week. From KLIA back to USJ. The car have totally no issues in speeding up to 120 once it gains the momentum. 120 - 140km/h will need a bit of a pedal press but also basically no issues and car is still stable enough (But can start to hear the noise get louder and driver feels the speeding). I am driving 1.6 k3, with ESC turned on all along. I never seen it lights up no matter what speed I was driving at.Now for speed over 140km/h, where i took it from 140 - 160km/h, the 20km/h took me more than 2km to achieve it. Where on the straight road, hard press on the pedal and the car accelerated very quite slowly, hardly to reach 160 as it hangs at 150 quite long, noices are loud and drive (me) starts to feel uneasy and personal pressure rises on the speed of 160km/h. So i assume i go more than 160km/h will really need the nerves to handle the car over this speed as driver starts to feel the car sways, plus i think i'll need another 3km to take the car till 170. I am not sure this is the experience of the 1.6 Kx or it's different for 1.6 K3. (Think Kx without ESC might makes a difference on the car feedback on 160km/h above I am just sharing to see anyone took the 1.6 engine for a hard test and what's the performance and feel feedback from drivers. Hope drivers with experience can share on this matter. Does K3 & Kx might will have diff performance? 120-130 is still stable for this car but engine noise and wind noise is noticeable. At 130-140 I can feel steering vibrations ( I did alignment for free during my first service), after 140 steering vibration no more. I believe balancing is not done properly anyway will get it fixed when times come as I don't always go beyond 130. I would say this car is reaching its stability limit at 150-160. At this speed, the noise is really loud and if u happen to tackle cornering on highway on this speed (of course not sharp cornering, small to medium small cornering), I some how feel the car some time will shift/shake/sway a little left to right for very short time (maybe half a sec). Initially I thought ESC will intervent and start working, but I did observed several times the instrument cluster does not show any symbol of ESC turned on for a few occasions when the shift/sway/shake happens. I did once to hit 170 for my max. This car is very noisy when cruising above 100km/h especially the road noise. As noisy as proton wira. Other than the road noise, engine noise is noticeable above 120, while wind noise at 110km/h with very minimal audible tone if u lower down aircond fan speed and turn off the stereo. At 100km/h, the rpm is abt 2.5k so it is audible and not very fuel economic. 1.6 not so powerful in overtaking even if the gas paddle is flat to the floor, u can hear engine roaring and it even hit 6000 rpm but the car does not really go. Even if 2.0 will gv u more power when paddle is pressed heavily but the suspension is making the car not stable when going through uneven road, the car feel like floating. So after this, I feel like this car is mainly for look, comfort, space, gadgets but not for speeding. So I will not drive so fast unless necessary. Anybody can share more on your speeding experience? |

QUOTE(lynxbishop @ Apr 29 2015, 02:25 PM) I own k3 2.0 Normal bro, stated on user manual. Pls get it fueled up possible if not that might hurt your catalytic converter.1) Dashboard sure make a bit noise, and last time my sunroof make a bit rattling sound, but already solved by KIA Setapak, at 140kmh unknown wind noise 2) Non for me 3) For me , the button on the steering make a rattling sound, but solved by KIA Setapak 4) So true my battery died at +-30,000km in less than 7 month (if mileage less than 20k or 1 year, you can claim even if you purchase the battery on your own - so I've been told by the KIA Setapak) 5) Non for me 6) So far so good (max highway 80-190kmh almost everyday but with caution of the traffic and car of course!!) 7) Weak even before tinting 8) No such thing happen to me, but the head rest of the passenger side make a bit noisy rattling sound So far i am happy with the choice I've made buying Cerato. 1 question tho, is it normal for the fuel indicator to display -- when the fuel is quite low usual last display is like 60km more then become -- |

QUOTE(Chester77 @ May 6 2015, 02:22 PM) Agree on the Not for speed but for comfort & space. Guess performance might be almost same a less as since same engine. My car going 110 start notice sounds but still at minimum, mainly is the 17" type that is roaring on the road. Basically until 140 the car start to feel uneasy n of course sound gets loud and u'll definately "feel" you are speeding. (i once sit on my friend's focus and i didn't even notice he is speeding until he tells me it's 150 on his meter I think 80km mild cornering still ok for K3, the ESC symbol will not light up. So I guess your Kx will also behave the same. Tried a few times.I guess diff will definately be the handling of Kx & k3 since with esc k3 is definately more stable in corners and wet roads. Kx just really don't have the "feel" of safety when cornering. The car sways on corners (unless u are below 60km). A car's stability will give you the confidence on how you know you can handle in higher speed, drove a focus and definately the car gave a more confidence and safe feel while i accelerate. Another thing is the car's power to "start moving" from a stop. Basically all cars will easily overtake you if you are to pickup slowly. That's why the underpower feels on overtaking and from a stop. When in a moving jam, everytime when you start gain momentum, the car infront start to stop. Then you crawl to build the momentum again and stops sometime when from static and on 1st gear, I will feel the car suddenly move forward unexpectedly. Could be due to deeper pedal pressed, but after that the car pickup actually not much power. Even when I fully press the gas pedal to flat on the floor and the RPM hitting 6.5k mark, I dont feel much power but rather just engine roaring. Sometime dont really have confident in overtaking or driving out of road if other cars are near. I am using Shell RON 97 all the while Make sure u check tyre pressure every 2-3 weeks to the right pressure and your car should be safe to tackle mild corner in 60-80km/h. |

QUOTE(keagan @ May 6 2015, 09:07 PM) This has been a 'problem' or characteristic of korean marques especially for their current range of nu and gamma engines. Even on the 2.0 i find this lethargic pickup very evident but definitely better then the 1.6 lump for now, korean car is good for its looking, gadgets, space and comfort not for handling and power. Maybe it will get improved by next few years as ex M-power chief engineer just joining KIA. I already know this car will be under power before I purchase, but to me the more important thing will be comfort, space, and luxury, safety and gadgets for this price range. I enjoy drive moderately with my family members and they do feel more comfy if I drive gently. For now, I think the tyre noise is quite loud on certain road even at 80km/h. Probably will do some sound proofing for this. |

QUOTE(keagan @ May 7 2015, 03:43 PM) from my experience the sound proofing is lacking mainly at the rear area..for the front not so much...you could try having the tyres changed and it should solve the dreaded droning during high speed driving . this has been a small issue that plagued the forte back when i first got it...but if you are saying this is lacking, you should try honda cars..they are much worse off.. changing to quiet tyre can only last certain mileage only, not a permanent solution.I sat in 2 honda stream, one honda civic prev gen. To my surprise they are not that bad as described on the internet. |

QUOTE(perror @ May 9 2015, 10:50 AM) I've done sound proofing on the boot, floor and tyre well. Of course I am indeed interested to see pictures. If you don't mind, please let us know what material were used and pricing for each compartment. All in all, there is improvement as you do those, but I would say the boot is worth doing, floor being fairly painful to do and fender, being right in the middle in terms of price and with the right material, it certainly helps to dampen the tyre roar. At the end of the day having done that, the roar is reduced except on the worst of roads. I know this for a fact as driving down the KESAS which has some really bad pavement from Kota Kemuning till Subang, there was a huge difference, and a measurable 5 - 8 dB diffrence. Now wind noise is more of a problem which I plan to solve with door soundproofing. Having said that, the MC5 that come with our cars have never been known for their silence and there are much more better tyres out there. Also if there is some need to quieten your ride, try installing a door rubber seal. I installed StuffIt and it's really good. Let me know if you guys would like some pics. I could probably dig it out from my archives. Do you find any rattling noise that never had before you did the sound proofing? I am kinda skeptical to hear more rattling noise after things had been dismantled and put them back again. Usually it will come with some extra rattling noise for stuff that has been re-installed. To tackle with tyre roar, better to start with boot first? I am curious that did you done all the fender, floor, and boot sound proof at the same time? If yes, then how would you identify which part yields the best result? This post has been edited by cougar richard: May 9 2015, 12:24 PM |
