So from reading this forum the common problems with the Cerato are:

1) May develop noises in the cabin from the dashboard, door panels or seats.
2) Ngek ngek sound from back on bumpy roads - can be solved by PJ Redcube SC
3) Some soft sound when turning the steering - Turn up the music and live with it.
4) Battery may die early - can claim if still within warranty, if not replace at own cost.
5) Gear changing may develop some odd behaviour when slowing down - affect some users but can be solved with ECU reset if it happens.
6) Suspension is on the soft side - not a problem for sedate drivers like me.
7) Weak radio reception - could this be due to tinting? Anybody solved and at which SC?
8) Seat moving - Is this a common problem? how can this be solved?

No. 1 is a bit worrying as it seems to be a very common problem and finding odd sounds can be tough. If SC cannot find the source I'm prepared to spend some money for outside help to eliminate it. Just a matter of interest my 10 year old CBU Optima still give me a quiet cabin when driving. Very impressed with the quality.

Any other common problems which I haven't mentioned above?

After reading on people posting in Kia Malaysia, I see a lot of complain on spare part hard to get and long waiting time or expensive, is it true?

To relate my experience as a Kia Optima owner for 10 years I must say that I never have to wait for any parts whether wear and tear parts, accident parts or cosmetic parts. I don't know about other models but I doubt the spare parts situation will be tight for a CKD car. There are many independent spare parts suppliers for Korean cars in the market so the availability of parts is not dependent on Naza.

hi khan! thanks for the headsup. Really a tough choice... coz i really don't like the shape of the city on the outside...at all! interior only the high spec is okay for me...for kx even the most basic spec still looks nicer den the low spec city... gotta think really hard  yawn.gif

thanks for the info though~ biggrin.gif

I would say go for the Cerato KX. The City is capable but a 'kosong' car compared to the KX. Don't worry so much about the fuel consumption. Korean cars may consume a little more because they are heavier but you get more safety in a stronger body. If you can buy the car you can afford the small difference in petrol if at all.

If you browse back there is one owner who compared her Cerato 1.6 with City and the Cerato came out favourably. It needs some patience to browse back but the graphic in that post is easy to spot.
