Fairly curious about this issue as well. Once I get my OBD2 reader, I'm going to take a drive up and chart the gearbox temperature.
Our car has a shared cooling for the engine, ATF and air cond. I suppose if under some level of stress, it might cause the temps to rise...I'm not sure what kind of driving conditions or load was the driver putting on his car when his gearbox overheated. QUOTE(sopremo @ Apr 13 2015, 08:56 AM) |

Thinking of getting the Cerato 2.0. I read some fellows here mention about acoustic insulation. Are the boot lid and bonnet insulated?

Whether we buy Forte 2.0 or Civic 2.0 (2010 model), the main point is both owners loss the same bucks now. If taking into account the loan interest, Civic owners is infact loose more because of the higher loan amountThis post has been edited by izputra: Apr 14 2015, 11:37 AM |

I did sound insulation on my car. Basically the boot has some fairly basic bitumen like material for sound insulation, but only at certain places (sharp angles) as far as I can see.
For the bonnet, there is a bonnet cover, but that's more for heat insulation than anything else. Basically the floor has some decent insulation, but no harm adding more if you can afford it. QUOTE(Ginny88 @ Apr 13 2015, 11:43 PM) |

The battery issue will probably haunt us owners for quite a bit. K3 FB page is filled with complaints of batteries dying out and I noticed that many have not passed the 20k mileage and over/close to a year old.
My less than 6 months old (mileage >20k) cerato has been giving me mixed signals since the past few days. Strangely my driver side mirror refused to flip open after I start my car. I have to turn off the ignition and restart a couple of times before I could get it to work again. I tried the controls on the door panel and that didn't work. The passenger side mirror was working fine though. This happened twice on the same day. And last night while I was driving home, I tried pressing the mute button on my steering but there was no response. The volume up and down button did not work either. Could any of these be a sign that my battery is failing? Anyone encountered similar issues? Along with some other persisting issues (moving driver seats and ngek ngek sound from fenders area) and now the possible battery issue, sometimes I just feel like giving up and get myself a new ride instead. But then I will lose out a lot and I really like the car ... On a side note, some updates for members, 1. If you experience the ngek ngek (for the lack of a better word to describe) sound from the back when you go over bumps or while reversing, do consider sending your car to PJ red cube. They managed to fix mine but I have to leave the car there for a day. Same thing happened to another member previously and I followed his advice to bring it to PJ red cube. Ask them to check fenders too as well. 2. If you can afford the 2.0, please get the 2.0. I feel my 1.6 is a little sluggish especially when over taking. |

So from reading this forum the common problems with the Cerato are:
1) May develop noises in the cabin from the dashboard, door panels or seats. 2) Ngek ngek sound from back on bumpy roads - can be solved by PJ Redcube SC 3) Some soft sound when turning the steering - Turn up the music and live with it. 4) Battery may die early - can claim if still within warranty, if not replace at own cost. 5) Gear changing may develop some odd behaviour when slowing down - affect some users but can be solved with ECU reset if it happens. 6) Suspension is on the soft side - not a problem for sedate drivers like me. 7) Weak radio reception - could this be due to tinting? Anybody solved and at which SC? 8) Seat moving - Is this a common problem? how can this be solved? No. 1 is a bit worrying as it seems to be a very common problem and finding odd sounds can be tough. If SC cannot find the source I'm prepared to spend some money for outside help to eliminate it. Just a matter of interest my 10 year old CBU Optima still give me a quiet cabin when driving. Very impressed with the quality. Any other common problems which I haven't mentioned above? This post has been edited by KennyKB: Apr 14 2015, 10:38 PM |
