Just a picture to illustrate Whiplash Neck Injury that can happen during a rear end collision and the function of Active Head Rest that can minimize the injury.

In a rear-end collision, your body moves forward with the car, your head is at rest and tends to stay at rest, (also known as Inertia). Relative to your body, that means it is jerking back. The headrest moves forward and upward to cradle /support your head and bring it along with the rest of the body.

Hi there guys, i have some questions to ask bout the car.
Because i try to let my parents to buy this car(K3 1.6) for me instead of the honda city 1.5V.
But they refuse me because of the reason below, i hope anyone can really find out the answer for me as a real user/ dealer.(compare to the honda city)
1. Is it have a big different on the 2nd hand value compare to city?
2. Is it harder to buy spare part or expensive?
3. Is it more valuable? depends on performance, comfortable, handling, fuel consumption.
4. Is it have any problem? eg. gearbox problem, air-con problem etc.
5. How is the feeling of the seats, will it be not confortable or very hot after shine by the sun for few hours?

Hope this helps. Answered point based to make it easier for you to relate to the question:

1) Resale value is fairly subjective. A 1 year old K3 is going for about 85k. So that's about a 10K+ depreciation a year if you look at a purchase price of around 95K+. I'm not sure what's the price of a 1 year old city or civic though

2) This is something we have to accept. Spare parts wise, it can be a bit pricy. Mainly because pretty much everything in the car is new and hence the pool of shared parts is small. Unlike a Vios that shares a 10 year old powermill and gearbox with it's older siblings, which will likely have a larger pool of shared parts. That being said, there are some things that Toyota charges more with regards to spares. So, yes some parts can be pricy, but time will tell

3) Pretty happy with my car relative to the price I paid back then. It is quite comfortable and spacious. Handling wise is ok, not fantastic. Fuel consumption for me is quite good. Note that I compared a K3 to a city as well back then and the K3 is a much better drive. Can't compare B-segment cars to C-segment.

4) I've had gearbox and engine issues. The former has been sorted with the replacement of a switch and the engine oil leak has not really resurfaced since

5) My 1.6 K3 had been reupholstered in leather, so in the hot sun, it can get pretty hot, but not overwhelmingly hot. Get a good tint and you should be fine. Never really had the issue of the seats burning any parts of my body yet.

To me these two cars are both good enough. Standing on yr parent's shoes, of course further consideration is needed, not to mention is not a few hundred ringgit toy. 2nd hand value, spare parts issues is like what perror said, it all depends on market and users.

I would think jap cars have more 2nd hand value due to it's build and lasting. So if kimchi car have equalalent build that could last for 15-20 years i would say the value sure will be as good as jap cars (I drove a 18years nissan sentra with the interior still very firmly attach)

Spare parts wise, is important as well as it depends on who will be paying when the car needs a fix brows.gif , if you are to bare the responsibility of your own car after handed to you then i think you could have them less worry about this later issue.

Else i think best to take your parents to a test drive together and let them feel the car and value smile.gif Since it's the K3 VS City, i could say the K3 value will stand out brows.gif (C vs B segment of course lo)

Handling, comfort, safety for K3 i give 4 and half stars, Kx just 3and half out of 5. FC i think city might have a slight advantage due to kerb weight.

Other issue out of the above i would think it's just merely personal preferrrence and instint of "going for the safe side" decisions.

Here to say, my own thinking K3 VS City, K3 wins. Kx VS City (THIS a tough one) i might go for City whistling.gif . But i still like my Kx so far tongue.gif thumbup.gif

Hi the switch that was replaced is the Shift Inhibitor. Basically my gearbox would not engage if I moved it to D. Takes a few D/N/D/N to actually get it to engage.

The switch problem also manifests itself visually when your current PRND indicator on your MID disappears, indicating a switch issue.

Yes, if the battery have problem, your indicator for battery will light. For your problem maybe is a weak autokey? try the spare auto key to start. But if autokey have weak battery there's also indicator. You'll find more info the manual. laugh.gif

Else just drop by the SC to have them check on it.

Recently i notice my steering have little and small "tick, tick" sound when i turn my steering. basically when turning corners.

I just don't know where the sound comes from, surely must be the steering as i turn it only the sounds comes. I try switch to "sport mode" then try again, the sound dissappears, but when i switch back to "normal" mode, the sounds comes back, about 3-4 tick sound when turning steering 180 degree.

Anyone encounter this problem before?

Thanks .
Must take note of the name and nature of problem, just in case.
Was it done at the same SC that reset your AT?

Yup I did it at the same SC that reset my AT. They had experienced that issue before on another K3, so they kept a few spare stocks.
