Sometimes I see those comments about Gaga on FnF, dunno if they are driving the same car as we are/did, especially the recent popularity of Gaga related threads the past few days due to the launch of the SV.

I don't butthurt those who comment on the downsides, you and I know what the car is and what are the weaknesses, but some comments are really

It is not really ~ as u can see nowadays our car's compression ratio was set above 8.0:1 hence minimum acceptable rate for RON is 95 with AKI 90 minutes ~ ... or else have to add variable valve timing, knock sensors to delay ignition timing to protect our engine ~

and It is possible to manufacture gasoline engines with compression ratios of over 11:1 that can use 87 (MON + RON)/2 (octane rating) fuel with the addition of variable valve timing and knock sensors to delay ignition timing. Such engines may not produce their full rated power using 87 octane gasoline under all circumstances, due to the delayed ignition timing.

So that is why i said higher RON is better especially for stock engine ~

The compression ratio is only half the story. The Mazda Skyactiv engine runs on 13:1 but still drink RON95. There are other factors as well as to how low a RON the engine can tolerate 

10.1:1 is consider high compression With this kinda setup, RON95 airfuel already can self ignite when piston reach the top of the block. Hence, Campor sohigh ECU did RETARD the ignition timing to accommodate the ping/detonation. When people tell you they pump RON97 dont get more horse powah is not their fault, cause the ECU can't sense detonation/ping, but also can't be certain if advance ignition timing will cause any harm to the car. In short:

If switch from RON97 to RON95, immediately you'll feel the engine retarded

If switch from RON95 to RON97, probably need a few more tanks before the ECU daring to retune the ignition timing back to normal.

In the end, what RON also can use. Just need to beware of the detonation. RON is an additive to RETARD the ignition point. Higher RON can mean more retarded flash point(also depending on the fuel type), on the otherhand, Natural Gas has a very low flash point, hence it need higher RON to avoid the NGV tank from explosion by the heat under sunlight.
