Yep. Chinese channels cost usd 5. You just pay online using
the cloudtv app.

If want all=chinese+english..=usd 7 + usd5=usd 12.

btw, i think I read somewhere you can use 2 devices per license..
if got 2 Android boxes, means can use on 2 tvs...hehe...you
checkb it out...maybe I read wrongly. Means can also watch from
tablet or phone for the 2nd device...
*
You can share the subscription cost with friends and relatives with one device respectively.

For English contents the best is usd8/month Netflix or Hulu plus. All HD quality unless classic titles. Watch on TV over ATV3 1080 playback. Downloading and storing 1080 BR titles is history liao.

Bro, how to do this?? Netflix/Hulu can't be access outside US, you use VPN? Can give more details? How to pay them?? They accept credit card payment from Overseas also?
what is this atv3 thing??? Android box?
*
Head over to Apple TV thread and you will find loads of info on how to watch netflix or hulu with Apple TV 3.
These are some of the streaming devices that you can use to watch netflix on TV.
ATV3 1080 playback
ATV2 720 playback
Roku3
Playstaton
Wii
Google Chromecast
Some smart TVs.

The cheapest is Google Chromecast @ USD35. But I prefer using ATV3 (RM345) because it mirror my ipad screen, very good 1080 HD quality and I can use ipad as remote control and keyboard.

No need VPN, just change DNS and it's free.

Bro, quick check. Definitely those movies won't be new movies right? Couple of months old?

What about Chinese/hong long movies? Any idea how to stream through atv3? I have one lying in my home, used it twice only
*
Netflix stream legal contents, of course have to wait la but got some 2013 titles in the library.
Chinese very limited. You can buy TVpad2 separately for Chinese korea contents.
Atv3 just plug n play, change apple id to US region, change DNS. Very easy. Pls visit Apple TV thread for more info.

rclxms.gif  hi all, it is interesting to see all these different solutions coming out these days for us to dump asstro - and i repeat: I HATE asstro with a passion!!!  vmad.gif

so far I have shortlisted the following devices based on my reading so far. I wish sifus here can help me to pick one and that's it.

I think TVPad2 more suitable for your mom. Got paid channels inside. Easy remote control UI.
Go watch YouTube demo la.

Bunch of channels/Apps to provide endless of contents in English, China, HK, Korea, Taiwan... you name it.
Just watched The Wolverin (2013) and Elysium(2013) in HD quality.

howabout sport ??
*
Sorry, not a sports fan. But I saw few sport channels. Also got hundreds of China live TV channels like CCTV and provincial TV channels. Some of these live TV channels featuring sports contents only.
Too many channels until don't know what to watch.

Wah so fast. Not sure speed 4Mbps okay or not.
*
I think should be ok. Top up a little more for Streamyx 8Mbps then get a MeLE tv box to replace the monopolistic Astro la.

Hi aeiou228,

You mean just plug in the MeLE M6 迈乐盒子 M6 and can play straight away?
No subscription needed?
Does your English channels include BPL, Discovery, and National Geographic?
Does your HK channels include TVB 翡翠高清?

Where did you get the box? and how much?

Thanks!
*
1. Yes PnP.
2. No.
3. All live TV channels got, inside CloudTV app but gave few days trial only, after trial need to pay.
4. .TVB 翡翠高清 and few hundred live HK,TW,CH,channels avaiable in CloudTV some free, some premium.
5. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=26407128653
¥ 219.00年终促 at taobao but delivered to my doorstep cost me around rm300 for 2 units.

Please note that this model is running on YunOS ( 阿里云) founded by Jack Ma of Alibaba. Got more Chinese based iptv apps than Android. I Just watched RED 2 in HD via this device.

Just asked the seller. It is just like other android tv box which you need to search for 3rd party app
for tv streaming
*
Just like android, there is an app store to down load the apps such as CloudTV, Youku, pptv, etc etc.

QUOTE(thoseeyes @ Jan 16 2014, 10:32 AM)
This Mele is not sold be any local distributor? Only can buy thru TaoBao? SO there is no subscription at all? tks
*
Only from Taobao.
Got free and premium channels. Example, I can watch RED2 free from MoreTV but can't watch from 百度电视云.

QUOTE(Alvan86 @ Jan 16 2014, 10:32 AM)
Can u pls share your internet speed in order to stream smoothly?
Heard other said free channels in Cloud TV normally can't watch, need to subscribe premium package
*
Maxis home fiber 10mbps. Not all movies stream smoothly. Some smooth, some buffer like hell, overseas Internet traffic can never promise 10mbps. Also, day time smoother than night time.

My M6 is special China mainland only version. Cheapest, but UI can't change to English. For me, it doesn't really matter, as long as English movie speak English will do.

ya found it on Ali express...selling around USD70..multiple seller but all don't highlight the free tv channels...unlike the local China version which has long detail explanation on the product and service. So a bit worry later it came without the necessary app preloaded
*
Got la. I think YunOS is more "accessible" to copy right contents than android brows.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 16 2014, 02:06 PM)
this is something i hv been wondering...

if the required streaming speed is not that high and the problem really is the internet traffic and blockages, wudn't 5mbps be good enough for all cloudtv sd or free channels?

and that leads to another question - will 20mbps improve the streaming of all content, incl hd ones from the most popular apps and addons?

i really like to know if 20 mbps unifi or maxis can stream 720-1080p dd5.1 nicely and consistently. if yes, wudn;t mind upgrading after dumping astro altogether!
*
I think is very much depend on the technology used by the contents provider and the device we use. Example, my Netflix and Hulu+ on Apple TV smooth as silk but as for MeLE, some channels ok some channels no ok. Both using the same Maxis 10Mbps fiber line.
