I heard this kind IPTV Box long time ago but until now not really familiar about this things.
may i know is it good to use? I heard astro will keep change their signal to avoid Box user using their signal.
Is it true?

This tv box has got nothing to do with Astro.
It is a streaming device similar to that of Apple TV, ChromeCast, Roku.
There are ocean of free contents for you to choose from. A full package Astro package is no match to this box unless you wan to watch Malaysian channels, Malay contents, Indian contents.
I already potong Astro 1 year ago, save more than RM2k yearly.
Astro recently offered those who potong before 31 dec 2013 a free Njoi smart card. So now I can watch some Astro channels for free too.

your Box compare apple TV which one better?

Got pros and cons.
ATV UI is very smooth, more vivid picture quality but very limited free contents or channels.
China branded box UI smoothness and picture quality can never match Apple but you got ocean of free contents and channels.
So for my case, ATV is for Netflix, Hulu+, YouTube, English News channels, airplay from iPad.
YunOS box is for all English, Chinese, HK, Taiwan, Korea contents, Hundreds of live TV channels, Chinese news, airplay from iPad.
Chromecast is to cast anything from my PC chrome browser on TV.
Astro Njoi is for Malaysian free Tv channels and some Astro channels.
I just bought a Roku3 but yet to instal, so no comment on this device.

Why wait, Just potong Astro and use the money to buy the above devices and upgrade to faster internet plan.

+100.

i potong 2 months ago. that alone paid for the cost of an adroidtv box!

seriously, if you have unifi or good broadband, astro is obsolete. there is a whole new world out there to explore.

at this time, there is already a lot to discover and enjoy. i expect a lot more to come in the near future. best to start now, whatever box or stick u like.

Enjoy the free contents now before internet service provider implement the FUP due to more awareness of such tv boxes by the public at large.

i'll share with u what i experienced in the last 3 months with himedia q5ii emmc on unifi 10mbps.

dumped astro a month ago, waiting for refund of partial month since they bill in advance.

with the latest 1.0.6 firmware, i am very satisfied:

.. comes with mangotv, a comprehensive china package with live tv stations, movies, tv series, some in hd. not everything work. i notice it works better in the day and after midnight, not so good in the evening.
.. comes with hitv - youku, vqq, qiyi, pptv, can install pps too. vqq, pptv, pps work good, the rest don't.
.. xbmc now works very well, 720, 1080 hd movies 24/7.
.. free content cloudtv is edgy - some channels get mixed up with others, some dun work. discovery hd world, fox sports work.h
noteh1: i do not know the complexity of ip's, dns', proxiehhhs, vpn's.... i just google for ips and do what is recommended and viola! tongue.gif

note2: not advertising for any brand/model/seller - pls read the threads on whatever box is for sale and decide. i am only an enthusiastic user. biggrin.gif

How is unifi traffic to china sites? My Maxis fiber is slow.
Some contents cant load at all.
Discovery HD in cloudtv works.
Most Youku contents geo blocked and cant load.
I using MeLE with YunOS. Not android.

hmm tried but could not go in, would you recommenc xbmc?

Xbmc is a bit more complicated. For hk,China, Taiwan live premium TV, cloudTV is the best afaik.

Hi aeiou and everybody else! I need help and am quite confused!

Currently thinking of getting a 46" dumb TV instead of 40" smart tv (both Samsung. Same price)

I have Unifi 5MBPS (do I need to upgrade to 10MBPS for 1080p?)

What do I need in order to stream IPTV? Prefer 720p and above.

Main content wishes: British, American or any English channels, FOOTBALL (EPL, FIFA) , tennis badminton, cooking shows and hopefully movies. Chinese shows are also appreciated but lowest priority. Prefer without any Chinese hard subtitles on the English materials as we are bananas..

Dumb TV should be enough, right? 2 HDMI with 1USB. Now only have HyppTV IPTV box, is MK808 still relevant or I should be buying something else? Please advice! Thank you!

Oh. If its not too much, hoping for English user interface also, instead of Chinese.
*
For English content, your bet is Roku3 or Apple TV. Those china made TV box also have a lot of English contents.
Yes, never pay any extra premium price for built in smart feature. Any TV box can do better then smart TV.

Cloud TV is free or paid one ah? Got free one?

Got free and paid channels.
Paid channels are cheap. USD5 per month only for tones of channels. Astro can never ever match this pricing and contents.

Torrents, YouTube, Showbox, Flixtor, Netflix, Hulu, USTV, American Live TV, Popcorn Time, CloudTV, DNS & VPN Services, Heavily tweaked XBMC setup which includes Navi-X, Icefilms, 1Channel, Mash-Up, SportsDevil, PseudoTV Live, Vevo, Vimeo, Ted, Yify, iStreams, etc and an m3u Playlist of Live TV channels pvr function (NTV 1 - 9, other local and international channels. Using my setup for over a year now & have forgotten about ASTRO or Hypptv services. Rather use the money to buy faster unifi download speeds. Rooted Android ftw!!
*
What about your hardwares ?

Mine are ATV3, Roku3, Chromecast, MeLE M6 running YunOS, iPad Air (airplay), Redmi 1s (airplay/casting), PC airplay/casting.
After having ocean of contents flooding in, looking back at Astro contents is like looking back at black and white RTM 1 and 2 when I first installed Astro.

One disadvantage of having too much contents though, keep switching channels.

Haha, my hypptv and astro box has been gathering dust too in the drawer. I even took out the batteries in their remote controls.  biggrin.gif My setup is such that I'm able to instantly stream/download whatever media I need as long as it's available online.
I agree, I've got other add-ons I left out.. Notice the etc & please don't get me started on my radio & music addons brows.gif Been a fan of yify since inception.
Rooted Minix Neo X7 hooked up to the TV.. Nexus 10 for screen mirroring, search, view ratings & review b4 playing on the big screen. Thought of getting the X8-H, but holding out for the next one or something much more powerful, besides my current setup runs perfectly and as they say "If it ain't broken? Don't fix it". Yeah, I also experience the same disadvantage of having too much content to choose from, but I always settle on 1 within a few minutes.

As HSBB penetration increases, the only reason to keep Astro is because of old folks at home or that person is super tech dummy.

Actually i forgot to mention one concern. The unlimited internet data by Unifi, Streamyx, Maxis Home Fiber etc is still subject to FUP until further notice. If every one start streaming online contents, I'm sure the ISPs will surely start enforcing the FUP. My Singapore relative, he has got a very high speed internet but FUP @ 60GB per month. Can't really stream.

So, for those who already in it, enjoy it and save Astro money while you still can. thumbup.gif
