Mini Typhoon can Beat XP90 if u change the fan to Delta 92m Focus Flow 129CFM . biggrin.gif
Default fan only 38cfm. Too low..increase it by 4x times...and see it powa. rclxms.gif

Yea...coz many already upgraded their systems ready. So few S 478 users left

But many Gigabyte coolers do support most platforms, incl 478 laugh.gif

And bout the performance btwn Big Typhoon & the Mini, we should test it ourselve. Then can see who win tongue.gif tongue.gif

wrong perception in comparison...
overall, Thermalright is mature in heatpipe solution...
let's examinate the heatpipe, before taking count of how many heatpipe in it.

the quality controls all.
who will win?
depending on what enviroment when u r going to do comparison.
overall, testing from pcpop indicate that xp90c and the big typhoon also sonic tower, both 3 give same result in cooling down the proc.
and the testing does not use any special, high air flow fan...
9cm and 12cm fan all normal.

so, who is the winner?
dun ask me.
depending on what is in ur mind, u feel like thermaltake is leading, go ahead.
i can get u a answer is, TT pipe101 heatpipe tech. which thermaltake use, is still good, but not as fine as what thermalright make.
Dun make this comparison for any latest product.

Althought Big Typhoon can beat the Mini, but the Big is just too heavy, cant carry your mobo around, or to Lanparty with it...later ur mobo break..
Hence the Mini or the XP-90 is better and lighter.. tongue.gif

i don't really agree, my big typhoon really no differences with delta or stock fan, as u guys know, we are able to set the speed of the fan for DFI motherboard, i lower it to 50 and compare with 127, no difference for the temperature at all doh.gif

I seriously think that this cooler is not up to expectations.
Blue Orb II is a normal orb-type heatsink without any heatpipe whatsoever... and looking at the results from techPowerUp, looks like MT lost to Blue Orb by about 5şC at full load. In my book, Blue Orb II is only an average CPU cooler designed for silent computing, not performance.

So for the thread starter, I think you have a clear idea of the MT. A cooler with 6 heatpipes loosing to a non-heatpiped cooler tells us how crappy the MT is. If based on the result, no doubt that XP-90 (not even XP-90C) will smoke the MT. Freezer Pro series will also smoke the MT... heck, even a full copper non-heatpipe Thermalright SLK series heatsink will smoke the MT. (Provided if the results are accurate ~lah)

Anyways, I doubt the test results by techPowerUp on the MT... Let's see if I can get Thermaltake to send me one for testing. I believe that the MT can do better if tested "properly"...

Maybe it's caused by the usage of full copper... Doesn't dissipate heat fast enough due to the fact it's using copper which absorbs heat and tend to store them in a larger scale of that by aluminium...
Unless you're willing to use a really powerful fan on it.. I doubt it would be for silent computing?

suspected tat the testing might be affected by the thermal compound they apply.
another might be cause of their casing air ventilation.

but for the design, i can said freezer series is much better.
silent fan doesn't generate strong air pressure.
and if thermaltake make the distant between each fin wider, it should gain more.
but since the heatsink is so tiny, more fin is needed.
and to solve this problem i believe the only ways is change to a more powerful fan.
it doesn't need to be too strong, but a thermaltake smart case fan is enough for it.
