Your answer is found in Granado Espada.....

Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy playing in a group, but what i don't enjoy is when the game forces you into a group for general gameplay like in FF11 and all the kiddy rages when your PUG sucks. Hey, not everyone play for keeps, some do it for fun and i can respect that. Know that, there is casual player and hardcore 16 hours a day player.
Like someone posted, there is no MMO that fits every player base out there, what they can do is for something that appeal to the masses.
I actually had a somewhat different experience in FFXI. Because of all the forced grouping since like the infamous Dunes, it helped everyone become a tolerable, if not better group player. Granted there always those that prefer to play for keeps but 80% of the players I have came across from EXP parties, Skill UP parties and Story Mission parties did their job well. I would like FFXIV to focus more on group play more actually as the game progresses further. There are so many games out there if you want to log on, do your own thing with dailies and farm alone. And this is coming from a casual player with 1-2 hours on weekdays to play. It creates for a much better community that works together. Just my 2 cents
